Ongoing Beta Beta Test: Qobuz Connect

Yes, from the start. What firmware version is yours on? I think all the eligible WiiM devices except the A10 and C10 got firmware updates. Would suggest reaching out to @RyanWithWiim as well as the Qconnect support team at Qobuz to confirm your device was whitelisted at both places. BTW, have you tried a Check for Updates on your Pro, just in case it got stuck?
Thanks for the flag! I'm having the team check out what happened and get them added to the beta.

I was hoping QC would show on the lock screen of my iPhone but it doesn't. That was one of the biggest features I was hoping QC would have. Maybe

Me too! But I am afraid they won‘t do that. There is a statement on Qobuz‘ beta site to known resrtrictions of iOS.

I’ve continued testing and I am finding that not only is Qobuz beta unable to connect over Qobuz Connection despite listing my WiiM Ultra, the app is also failing to Chromecast to my WiiM Ultra. This is with my MacBook Air. My iPhone (which obviously doesn’t offer Chromecast option) also fails to send via Qobuz Connect. Chromecast is enabled on my WiiM Ultra. Given both Chromecast and Qobuz connect are failing, seems there may be some other problem.

FWIW, the Google Cast function on my Ultra is screwed up. But Qobuz Connect is working beautifully.

In the Qobuz Qconnect beta app (on your iPhone I assume?), and with your Macbook running the beta desktop app, can they see each other as Qobuz Connect devices (possibly listed as "Network device")?

Oh-er. That sounds nasty. I guess many of us are using Chromecast for music sources other than Qobuz. I fear they'll be focussing upon Connect so much that it might take some time to get Chromecast working again.
(I feel less bitter and twisted now about being rejected from the beta.)

At this point I feel I should’ve joined the USB+bass mgmt beta instead of this one. 🤦🏻‍♂️

So what happens when you select your Ultra from the phone? Just fails to complete the connection?

It keeps spinning. That’s it. Absolutely nothing occurs at the WiiM.

Since that could be a network issue, you should check whether your Ultra and your iPhone are on the same subnet/VLAN and WiFi SSID/frequency, and that these devices have static IP addresses on your network.

You might take a look at this post at the Qobuz Club Qconnect forum. I don't use an iPhone, but I was unaware that Apple will set its IP address to change randomly, supposedly as a security measure. While I can imagine a few corner cases where that might provide some security, it seems more likely it'll "secure" your phone by making it impossible for you to do certain things. As a famous quote goes, "The secrecy of my work prevents me from knowing what I'm doing."

it so odd. I got it to work last week for like 1 hour but the quality was mp3. It stopped working just like yours and never again worked again. I left the beta a few days ago because it never connected again 🤷‍♂️

Who supposed to be fixing this wiim or qoboz?

I'm trying to imagine how the quality was set to mp3. The only thing I can come up with is that your Ultra signalled to Qobuz during the handshake that mp3 was the maximum quality it could support (similar to Qobuz sending a max of 24/96 to Google Cast endpoints). I'd have been tempted to factory reset the Ultra and do the firmware upgrade from scratch. Something definitely off there.

Good question. I reported it several times to both Qobuz and WiiM. Screenshots and all. Qobuz were the only ones who acknowledged my reports. WiiM has been silent. So who knows.
It look like their connect won’t be ready for release anytime soon. It’s understandable knowing r&d is expensive especially for a small company that doesn’t have the numbers of engineers like apple or Microsoft.

Dude I don’t have an ultra I was using my amp. And I’m on iOS. I posted screenshots on this very thread. It was odd I could hear a difference in quality between the Qobuz beta app and Qobuz in the WHA. I had the setting set to max as well.

Just checked and my private IP address is already set to fixed before I went in there.
