Hi WiiM Community,

We are looking for beta testers to experience our Wireless Dolby 5.1 feature. The WiiM Ultra supports Dolby Digital Audio, making it an excellent choice for creating a 5.1 surround sound system.

A 5.1 setup immerses you in rich, dynamic sound, enhancing your audio experience with greater depth and realism. You can achieve this immersive setup by linking multiple WiiM devices in a multi-room configuration. This flexible and cost-effective approach delivers the full 5.1 surround experience. To learn more, please check out this article.

To access this feature, we've uploaded a new version of the app (Version 3.1.1), which is currently under review. Stay tuned for updates!

Please note that this feature will also be available in the WiiM Amp Pro, which also supports Dolby Digital Audio.

If you are interested in beta testing this new feature, please provide your Wiim Forum username and MAC address in the Beta Test link.

Hi WiiM Community,

To make it easier for you to join the beta test, we will be releasing an updated app in the coming days. This update will allow you to select the desired beta firmware directly from the app by going to Device Settings -> Device Info -> Join Beta Testing. With this new feature, you will no longer need to sign up your devices through the beta test link.

Is this limited to Dolby Digital rather than Dolby Digital Plus and the many other audio formats (such as DTS) supported by an AVR?

It looks like 2 audio pro (WiiM edition) for the rears lol maybe audio pro will come out with a center channel?

That's great.😀
When the APP arrives, I will participate in a beta test with Amp pro.

Let them get the first release out and then see where it may go 😉🤣

Will the setup work if USB out is used (for both mains and surround)? In my case I would connect a USB DDC to Wiim, and then AES digital to active speakers.

Follow up would be, can the USB out just send multichannel in the first place?

There’s been no mention of multi channel pass thru and I’m wondering why you’d want the Ultra do that

To connect it to a okto dac 8 pro for multichannel. Essentially using Wiim as an HDMI receiver and Dolby decoder to lpcm.

Once again I refer back to the faq page!
No promises though.

Q) Will it be possible to route multichannel HDMI input to multichannel USB output (e.g., 5.1 channel)
A) Our system currently supports only two-channel audio for both HDMI input and USB output. However, our team is exploring options to enable multichannel support for routing HDMI input to USB output.

You’ve a better memory than me when it comes to these obscure references 🤣🤣

Would two WiiM Minis with some active speakers work well as surround sound? When will the WiiM Edition Audio Pro A10 be available in Europe? Is the non-WiiM Edition A10 not upgradable?

First of all, this is absolutely sick and I can't wait to try it. Ordered the Ultra.

I'm also wondering this, I have Klipsch Nines and Sevens already hooked up to WiiM Minis, will I be able to use these as pairs for front and surround speakers? In the FAQ/tutorial page screenshots I noticed option for "Surround" in addition to the surround right and left options, same for front so I'm kind of hoping it works.

This is sick! Sometimes I would've loved to have a surround system for movies.

Me too, I'm hoping the WiiM editions of the Audio Pro A10 MKII and C10 MKII will make it to Europe some day.

Could we also just create a 4.0 system? 2 main speakers in the front, 2 satellites in the back?

I wonder how latency will be handled btw... Is the amount of latency communicated with the TV so it can reduce the offset between audio and video?
