Browsing and organizing USB media library is very tedious

I am delighted with the USB library features in the wiim amp. In fact that feature alone is justification for buying the wiim amp as I have large libraries of music and audiobook files. However there are two simple features which would be of great benefit to keeping the USB library up to date. First, using the wiim home app, the ability to add files directly to the library from, say, an iPad or iPhone download folder. Second, the ability to delete tracks/albums from the library also would be useful.

It's better than nothing but I would recommend other servers. Brother uses it, it's a bit basic when I used his system

Much prefer LMS on a raspberry Pi

See differences no question what's better

Good it's included but I'd only use it as secondary

It depends what you want it for, but I suspect that it does 99% of what 99% of people would like it it do.

I'm not sure 'basic' is much of a criticism when 'basic' is what it will almost always be used for.

Certainly, if you have complex, bespoke needs, other options are available to you, and good luck.

Hi rccarguy,

Please submit a feedback ticket through the WiiM Home App so our engineers can investigate why the album art is not displaying for your content. Thank you for your continued patience and support! If possible, please also share a few track files, as they will help us debug this issue more effectively.

Typically have a jpeg image in each directory of that album

Cover.jpg
Front.jpg

Or audio files in that album would have embedded album art

So scanner detects them resizes as needed into database image cache

For artist that is downloaded automatically with the plugin, text and band image

Lyrics could be embedded into tag or downloaded with the plugin

Have you tried folder.jpg ?

Is it possible for the built in scanner to scan a samba share? Would be useful to test how it's like with scanning my NAS (samba) I can browse by directory but can't see any scan options

SMB shares are accessible but this thread is about the USB medial library function.

yeah thought so, would be useful to do comparison between dedicated server and the one in the Wiim.
You could try the Windows WHA to perform the indexing, but last time I tried it was incredibly slow and buggy (splitting albums by track artist).

All my covers are 500x500, embedded and stored in the respective directory as folder.jpg. All covers were visible in WHA when I connected a 1TB SSD to USB (almost 40K songs). However, I didn't like it: the quality of the covers was much worse (downscaled) and looked awful on the 13" tablet. Since I also didn't like the handling, I decided not to pursue the USB SSD adventure on Ultra.

As already mentioned above by Steve, try 'folder.jpg', good luck!

Hi @rccarguy,

Thank you for providing the details. We will replicate the same environment to investigate this issue promptly. Could you also help capture the folder structure for our reference?

I can't do a through test as the Wiim doesn't seem to detect the USB HDD (my USB HD formatted when using them as backup drives connected to a Synology USB port NAS) It's in a two bay USB bay

I've sent a ticket.

Once it's working I can then scan the 3TB HDD which have my music backup (mirror of my primary music collection)

ok formatted a 2TB HDD as NTFS in windows copied files to that, then connected to the Wiim. Files are detected and scanned

With the other HD (3 and 2tb) formatted EXT4 by synology NAS, files are not detected. I need to use EXT4 as it didn't seem to like copying specific files.

Seems it doesn't like how Synology formats the EXT4 system, even though it's an external USB HD not one taken from the drive slots

As for the wiim scanner, it's finding and using the album art, but Artist art has nothing so not as good as LMS (since that downloads artist image and information of the band) . Plus it doesn't have Album Artists branch like LMS (cuts down 20000 artists down to 800) Would be totally unusable in scanning my full library (like using the all artist branch in LMS)

and selecting artist, all tracks is at the top, albums at the bottom so you have to scroll past tracks before seeing the albums. Then select "see all" just more unnecessary taps.

Better than nothing but still no LMS not even close.
