Browsing and organizing USB media library is very tedious

rccarguy you’ve just demonstrated in the clearest way possible that you haven’t a clue what I can and can’t do.

That’s not an opinion. You’ve just proved it.

I’ve got an idea. In future if you’re not sure whether there’s something specific I can do, just ask. It’ll stop you making yourself look daft by guessing and getting it wrong.

Wait 14 minutes to find "best of" yeah brilliant.

You're using indexing, via database, and not folder search.

Cope harder.

It's instantaneous. Using the WiiM app for my Ultra or Mini, using the Sonos app for my Sonos, using the search protocol on mt DAP, or using WMP or any other media player on my PC.

Fair enough but a lot of people that use Folder View in LMS do so because they can't be bothered to tag files properly 🤣

When I started ripping, I didn't even know how tags worked, or why they were there. They just were.

As the years have rolled on, I've learned more and more. Usually when I rip it gets it right, but occasionally I have to edit.

It doesn't take 14 minutes when searching in the WiiM Home app. He isn't searching in Windows.

Depends if the storage is local USB, or over the network, if it's scanned into database in wiim then it indexes right?

I'm talking of un-indexed, browse by folder, over a network, not scanned - as that is could be cached/indexed folder search. You should notice this as will have a audible HD access on every change. But with database it'll just read through the single optimised database file, like using spreadhseet it'll find it instantly and can it to search any tag, something browse by folder cannot do.

I've used rockboxed players, it has a database system but you can also browse by folder.

And in LMS you can browse by folder, which is slower there is a delay everytime you go by directory- on a older NAS, compared to the same NAS where the database was still instant.

Exactly. Some find too much effort tag files, so just use "as is"

Within LMS can use search variables, he can say "waaaah I don't want to use that, so it's naff" just making lame excuses and being a troll.

Just ignore him.

No. I have my music on a WD MyCloud mini-NAS, and when I search in WMP it's instantaneous.

It's usually no effort to tag files, WMP tags them as you rip them.

You may be 'talking about unindexed browse by folder, over a network not scanned', but absolutely no one else has been.

Basically, you've misunderstood what I do, misunderstood what 'Folder View' means, and have been arguing - often with personal insults - against something which you clearly don't understand.

hahaha. So you ARE using a database/indexing.

WMP? ROFL Terrible piece of software

Get out of here.

So did you miss posts 101, 111, 113, 116, 120, 140, etc.

What's happened is, you've clearly got an idea in your head as to what we've been talking about, and the red mist has descended to the point where you've simply chosen not to engage in conversation, just hurl insults. Had you actually read the posts here, you'd have soon discovered that your initial presumption was wrong.

You insisted I was in windows explorer, searching using its search bar, when I'd already posted pics of me searching using the WiiM app.

Making yourself look daft isn't nice, but you've only yourself to blame.

@rccarguy , Winston Churchill once said of Field Marshall Montgomery "Indomitable in retreat, invincible in advance; insufferable in victory." I certainly hope we can both be better than that.

In the interest of peace and harmony in the group, I'll offer an olive branch, and hope you take it in the spirit intended.

Best wishes.
