Can someone help me access my *.FLAC library on my Ubuntu server, from the Wiim app please?

I’ve spent the last few weeks ripping my entire CD collection and I’m currently copying it to what I think is the right shared folder on the server (Tank>Music), But the WiiM app can’t see anything.

Having said that, I have Emby Premiere and I can see the files using the Emby app on my phone, so something works, but I want to be able to use my Wiims/app to play the music wherever I fancy.

Everything is fine using Emby, I don’t have any Emby issues.

I mentioned Emby only to highlight the fact that the server is sharing.

It’s accessing the music from my WiiM app that is my issue.
And the mConnect app from what you said above, so not just the WiiM app…

The Emby app might be connecting through a proprietary protocol, so this doesn't proof anything.

If mConnect cannot find any music this is a proof that the DLNA server is not accessible (for to be determined reasons). You received a couple of suggestions, already.

It's possible that the access permissions for the folders are too restrictive.

sudo chmod -R 666 /path/to/music

666 sets a very permissive read+write access for anyone on your network which is fine for home use
It's only Emby that needs read access to the files/folders, as metadata and audio are served to control points/renderers over an internal http server.

Wiim devices currently don’t support SMB/CIFS file shares so need a DLNA/UPNP server to deliver those tracks. Hence the questions about enabling DLNA on Emby. If mConnect can’t see them either, then it’s an issue with that DLNA server.

Whilst it doesn't look like Emby likes my file layout (AlbumArtist/Album/CDXX), once I'd enabled DLNA, Emby and the albums did appear in the WiiM Home App. In trying to work out the correct file layout for Emby I removed my library and replaced it with a subset, and after a rescan I did see the same behaviour you described, but only for a short time, so whilst the scanning progress had completed there was clearly something still going on.

Does the default user you've selected on the DLNA settings page have access to the library?

I tested with 4.8.7.0 on Windows.

Hi,
Did this get resolved? If so, could someone describe the solution here -- please!
I am about to give up and return my new Wiim Pro because I cannot get it to see my dlna based music files (CD's encoded in flac). I'm desperate for a solution....
I'm running Linux Mint (ver 21.2) on all my equipment. I have a PC running both gerbera and mindlna dlna servers. I can see and use them from vlc, from a LG TV, and from a Yamaha receiver (TSR-700). The network connecting all this stuff is all Unifi hardware. (The hardware is NOT all on the same network; but where it isn't, I have set the firewall rules to allow one device on one vlan to see/access another device on another vlan. It works fine.)
Thanks for any follow-up and/or help!

Joe,
Have you raised a ticket with Wiim?
AFAIK the Wiim app will be sending out a DLNA discovery request over the network. This is typically using UDP 1900 but Wiim would be able to confirm/deny

What do you see when you tap on Home Music Share in the WiiM Home App? Screenshots of what you see would be helpful.

As @jfbuk mentioned, one device "seeing" another might not be good enough.

Sorry, I was not very specific on a key point. The dlna server, the Wiim Pro, and the Android tablet with the app are all on the same VLan. The LG TV and the Yamaha Rcvr are not on that VLAN, but are able to see and use the dlna server (via the modified firewall rules mentioned).

Also, to jbuk's question, I have (now) filed a ticket with Wiim folks.

And I'll be back later with an answer to, and screen shot of, "tapping on Music share". Gotta learn how to screetshot on android.

Thanks all!

To verify SSDP discovery install BubbleUPnP on your tablet; if that fails to see your server then it's network related.
If you have any switches between the router and the server you may need to check that IGMP snooping is disabled

To simbun.
Quickly installed bubbleupnp to android tablet. It sees/accesses the dlna server OK -- it also spotted the Wiim Pro.
Quick look thru network switches ... no obvious IGMP snooping enabled. BUT, this is Ubiquiti, I need to go thru all the Ubiquiti setting terms to see if IGMP snooping is hidden as part of something else. Back later....
Thanks for the tips.

Here's the screenshot as requested.
And thanks for the instant tutorial on Android screenshoots!

If BubbleUPnP can see the server then the WiiM Home app should be able to too.
I have a WiiM Pro on a Ubiquiti VLAN and a MiniDLNA install, so very similar to you, and I've never had a discovery problem, so I'm at a bit of a loss.

I'll pull together info on the MiniDLNA version I'm using, and the settings for the switches+ports between the components I use. If you could compare that to yours and advise me of any differences ... maybe we can find what's going on?
We're in the middle of a remodeling project so it might take a day or so. Hopefully not.
Thanks again for all your help!

I installed the Gerbera docker image and that too was visible in the WiiM Home app.

Given BubbleUPnP can see the server from the same tablet I don't think it can be a network configuration issue.

Have you tried a clean install of the WHA? If that doesn't work, after a failed discovery send WiiM feedback from the app (Settings > Send us feedback) and maybe they'll see something in your logs.

If I think of anything else I'll let you know.

Hey all, OP here.

I did manage to resolve this, with the assistance of a very techy friend.

In the end, he installed Logitech Media Server (LMS) on my server and the WiiM app now sees it as the Music share.

Sounds like it was an Emby issue then.

There are much better and simpler solutions than using LMS as a UPnP server for access through the WHA, but if it works for you then that's all that matters.
