Yes. Same issue. Bought Sony xm4 and tried all my Wiim products BY out (mini, pro & ultra) but after usually 10 mins of perfectly fine use the xm4 started to play up …. Distorted sound, unlistenable. Informed Wiim of the issue and returned the xm4’s. Wiim never provided a reason or solution.
It’s reassuring that others have had the same issue….shame as I liked the xm4’s but as my use was intended with Wiim products, they had to go back. Now not willing to risk another BT headset.

Thanks for the reply Kryton. I feel let down in this area of the product. I'm okay sacrificing slightly less hardly notable sound quality via various inputs/outputs of the Ultra. So many folk have complained about the phono stage, but to me with my MM compared to my previous stand alone U-Turn Pluto (better) phono stage, It's really not noticeable to me. There are two pluses for me, one the simplicity of having less components to manage and the added input gain (something the U-Turn did not have). Now if the phono stage cut out or caused really bad listening (like this BT issue we are having) then yeah, I would not be happy.

@WiiM Team I've had a ticket open for 13 days now, with logs, can we get some expertise on this and explain why this is happening and the plan moving forward?

Thank you.

Could it be that the issue is with the Bluetooth version? The Sony XM-4 is BT5.0 while the WiiM Ultra Support 5.3.

It should be backwards compatible but maybe not with the WiiM implementation?

What is the BT version of the other headphones that has issues?

I got the Sennheiser momentum 4, with BT 5.2, that works with no issues.

WH-CH720N has BT 5.2 and experiences the issue.

Sony XM-4 BT 5.0 and many reports of issues of poor quality streaming, including me.

Anker Soundcore Life Q30 BT 5.0 and doesn't have issue of poor quality streaming, they just briefly drop connection for a sub second randomly but do so the further I get from the Ultra, maybe once every avg. song when only 8' away but multiple times if I go further than 20ft.

Dell Audio WL5024 (what I use for work) BT 5.3 and they work perfect up to about 40' then minor dropping occurs.

No. I've never used BT out from my Ultra up to now but out of curiosity I just paired my Sennheiser Momentum 4 headphones with my Ultra. Zero issues and excellent sound. I'm sitting about 20' from the Ultra. Next I tried my Edifier W830NB headphones and had no problem with those either.

Thank you @mlsstl

Wonder if there might be an interference issue in your house. Here's an experience I had several years ago with wif-fi in a prior house. Everything worked find except for one Roku receiver on a TV in the kitchen where the connection was poor. Finally it occurred to me one day that there was a laundry room with a large washer & drying directly in the path between the wireless router and the Roku. Moving the wireless router about 4' to the left solved the problem. You might have a similar issue with the BT connection -- could be a metal HVAC air duct hidden in a wall or something similar. Also some devices have a better chip or antenna setup than others, or another device just emitting RFI that's interferring. Just a thought....

Even though I don't use Bluetooth headphones with the Ultra, I was also curious. I tested two, no abnormalities at approx. 5meters with Sennheiser Momentum 4, Soundcore Space Q45.

Never had issues with a FiiO BTA30 Pro DAC that is a BT transceiver with antenna. Never ever, same spot where the Ultra sits.

Thanks.

Lots of different potential causes so worth checking out all the possibilities. Based on the responses you're getting, sounds more like a compatibility issue between the Ultra and certain headphone models.

I tested the Ultra's Bluetooth here. Before you buy a new headphones more, it might be a good idea to take the Ultra out into the garden and test it. If you can.
