expensive power cables

No one has mentioned that the Vibelink and Ultra Amp have power sockets that doesn’t allow «hifi power cables». They use «Mickey Mouse style» and I have not seen any «hifi-version» with that connector. So case closed 👍🏻

"and I have not seen any «hifi-version» with that connector" --> Oh but it will appear soon out of nowhere. I'm gambling on Audioquest. ;)

You haven't shopped AliExpress hard enough. 🤪

I think that only shielding can bring any benefits.
If, by shielding, you mean shielding other equipment from interference caused by the mains cord then the real problem is a fault with the other equipment. If the cord doesn't cause interference then the faulty equipment is still going to pick up interference from all the other wiring in the vicinity including in the walls and floor.

If you mean shielding the mains supply from outside interference, I would ask What could possibly cause it that wouldn't be picked up further back down the line in the rest of house's wiring?

So, it looks like they use a a 2 prong C7 plug, which does not have a separate ground wire. Correct? Why no ground wire?

Correction: Only the Ultra is C7. The Vibelink is C5. So, at least the amp has a ground wire.

Because people buy it. It is cheap and easy and too less people care about. I remember well the trouble with the first batches of the Amp 🤷🏻‍♂️

There's no point in buying fancy power cables unless you're receiving grain fed organic electricity.
