Oh the joy of having to dismantle and rewind an 8 track cassette because it had jammed, yet again.

I was glad when I upgraded to compact cassette.

In Germany such 8Tracks were in fact unknown or at least not present in the consumer market. Skipped this step, so from FM to MC on a direct line

I was aware of them in the UK but never actually knew anyone who had one. Record shops used to sell them.
