Happy with the sound quality of WIIM Sound

I just received a Wiim Sound and installed it yesterday. Already had an Audio Pro A10 Mk2, so was nice to compare a bit. Although the A10 is no slouch I can compare the two and mannn the Wiim Sound is on another level! I can imagine that installing 2 Sound speakers will be even better. Thanks Wiim for delivering such a beautiful product again! Am curious if we will get some more variation on the small screen. A small VU meter would be great!

I am curious that several weeks after the launch there are not too many other reviews of the Sound’s, well, sound. Here or elsewhere online. Does anyone else have any opinion about the speaker’s sound quality, either on its own or in comparison to other alternatives like the HomePod or Sonos Eras 100 or 300?

And I'm curious to hear from any WiiM Sound owner who hears a weird rumble during quiet sections of tracks, e.g. at the start and finish of a track, and most noticeable when played at low volumes.
This noise really has spoiled the UX for me. :(

Nice to hear someone's thoughts. I though the a10 was bad. I sent it back. I love love my C10 Wiim. I'm hoping the Sound jams!

Have you already sent the ticket?

imo, the Sound has a very different sound to the C10.
Don't have an A10 to compare to that, but I know some others that do...

Yep I'm curious also. I am not an audiophile so can't give you more on the details. For me the sound is full and warm with enough bass coming from that one speaker. Also didn't hear the rumble sound that was mentioned.

I also looked around to find any other reviews on the Wiim Sound, but have not found a lot, other than some AI generated videos which are useless.

I think Wiim could be an excellent replacement for the Sonos with it's more open system, just needs some more products but that will come in time. Hope it takes off, for now it fullfills all of my needs (except perhaps another Sound to build a Stereo image)

I’m very pleased with the sound quality after doing the room correction. Apart from proper stereo systems, I cannot compare it to similar speakers. I only can compare it with my (distant 🤣) memory of the sound of a sonos play one and I don’t think this is a fair comparison (sound sounds in another universe). I also notice this rumble if there is no music coming out of the speaker but only if my ear is literally laying on the speaker . From half a meter away I cannot hear it at all, so not an issue for me. The sound stays in my bedroom and I don’t hear anything even at nights. And I’m also pleased with the build quality and I do love this little round display!

I don't think you've grasped the problem I'm having. The 2 WiiM Sounds I have are totally silent when no music/speech etc. is playing, (i.e. idle). It's when music/speech etc is playing at low volume, especially during lead in and fade out, and silent bits in the middle, that the problem arises.

I'm also curious as to why there's hardly any reviews (although customer reviews seem positive). I'm torn between this and audio pro. I guess I'll have to pop into my local Richer sounds and see if I can have a listen.

From what i experienced, having both the Audio Pro A10 MK2 (Non Wiim) and the Wiim Sound, the latter one sounds a big step up better. More full and engaging sound, but again not a lot of reviews. I did see a recent interview on AvForums which does review the sound quality.

I am considering a smart speaker for our kitchen and am torn between finding out more about the Sound or plumping for a Sonos Era 300 which, with its current 25% discount, is now comparable in price and I know sounds really good.
As I see it, the Era has at least 2 advantages compared to the Sound. One is, of course, AirPlay for multi-room with my existing Pro Plus in the living room (or DLNA just to the Era from PiCorePlayer). The other is Alexa, especially in the kitchen where voice control is a real advantage. My other half would also prefer not to use any sort of control for music or radio other than voice.
I am aware that the Sound is not smart in the sense of having any voice control whatsoever (an unfortunate omission), and so wondered how best to somehow incorporate it with the existing kitchen speaker - an Echo Dot.
If too much of a faff then the Era may be the way to go after all.

Just got a chance to play with this. Sounds good. My unit was preset with considerable bass boost which caused it sound really boomy. Fixed that and I also ran the room correction which considerably improved things.

IIRC from the top of my head the WiiM Sound comes with "Dynamic Bass" set to 8 dB. If you fixed the boominess by reducing this value, all should be fine.

If you applied some EQ but let dynamic bass at 8 dB you might encounter a lack of bass at elevated levels.

Just saying.

I have 2 WiiM sounds and I also have an Ultra I usually start my day with just the 2 WiiM sounds running and I am really surprised by how big they sound and the quality. I was listening to Radio head Kid A album and also the band The Midnight I.am a sucker for 80's style of music. Kid A is a good tester for the speakers as the album has sounds that sometimes only come out of the left or right side.
When I do use the ultra for tv watching such as the last season of Stranger Things, because I have never had that set up before is been surprising to hear the detail and background sound effects.

My one issue is being an Amazon music user because I prefer there higher quality. Is that if you turn the speakers off at night and want to play them in morning I find that I have to log in again to my Amazon account. This can crash then I find that I have to reboot. This seems to be a bug.
