Headphones

A good example of how the price or name of a product is NOT always the deciding factor 👍

But if you do end up getting those IEMs please share your listening impressions... would be interested to hear.😅

Lots of Philips fidelio fans around here, huh? Never had the chance to listen to a pair but the pricing looks very competitive 🤔👀

I would avoid IEMs if you're not already used to them...

One should never insert foreign bodies into the ear canal. It disrupts the natural self-cleaning processes amongst other things. 🤔
You don't use them 24/7. Same would apply to hearing aids, ear plugs and all earphones that come with phones 🤔

Yes exactly. All of the above. And it doesn't need to be used for long periods to disrupt the ear's normal functioning... the self-cleaning mechanism is easily messed with. 🤷‍♂️

Nothing foreign should ever be inserted into the ear canal unless absolutely necessary. E.g. a medical procedure... There are many hearing aids that do not enter the ear canal too, btw.

After a few days of extensively testing and appreciating the Fiio FT1, tonight it's the turn of the Fidelio L4 again. Damn good sound for wireless LDAC headphones 🐭

👍
How would a open back headphone sound?
Did you tried an open back or a planar headphones?
Those Planar headphones seem to have their own sound..

My next purchase could be the Fiio FT1 pro or the 7HZ timeless 2.

My open HD599 - which, by the way, is currently on spring sale at amazon DE - serves as my reference headphones for all comparisons.
For me, they have a perfect sound, are lightweight and super comfortable. I swapped the stiff cable for a silver/copper cable from Geekria. The headphone allows me to be aware of my surroundings when listening, but I can only use it alone as my wife has complained that she can “listen in”.
I've tested some planar in the 90s, was not the real thing for me.

Never heard (no pun intended) my audiologist say that when I’ve had my hearing aids fitted…

Thank you very much. Heard so much positive reactions about the Sennheiser headphones.
I definitely going to buy a pair for me soon.👌

Dont know how these planar headphones will sound. I also want to have an open back .
I heard the bass on these planar headphones are fenomenal...
I think I have to experience it myself..
Thanks for the advice..👌👌👍😊

Honestly believe what you want. 😅Unfortunately many professionals in the area are unaware of the amazing physiological basis of the ear's self-cleaning functions in detail. (audiologists are only taught how to measure your hearing, btw, not about general ear physiology/pathology)

I worked in ENT/otolaryngology for a while and some of the PhDs in our group were working on the way cells leave the ear canal with wax etc. They sort of flow outwards in concentric circles from the middle of the outer ear (the canal opening) to the outer edge (pinna), with the dead cells/debris getting expelled continuously outwards. This process is super sensitive to almost any physical disruption. 🤔

I just don't take risks with anything eye or ear related. And tbh I never got a comfortable pair of IEMs that I could tolerate for more than a few minutes anyways... never got to try any custom molded designs or anything, but to me the enjoyment in sound isn't as good as over-ear cans either.

Been dying to try the noble FoKus Apollo since they were launched last year.

Most interesting headphone design I've come across in years!! Hybrid planar magnetic + dynamic drivers!! 🤯P Pretty much all the bells and whistles you can think of as well...
Price to match as well, I suppose 😰B
But I would like to experience them - just not enough around in the wild 🤔

What type of hearing aid doesn't fit in the ear canal then?
