Home Music Server in the WiiM Home App doesn't show media

Greetings! I just purchased the WiiM version of the AudioPro C10 MKII and am setting it up to stream music from my Windows 10 desktop PC. I have Media Streaming enabled (the C10 is "allowed" in streaming options) and I have the Home App for Windows installed with DLNA enabled. I also have printer and file sharing enabled, and the media folder that is configured for music in Windows Media Player is shared on the network (might be unnecessary). However, the Home Music Server feature of the Home App does not work. Besides not being able to connect and see any of the shared media from either a mobile device or another Windows PC running the Home App, if I select Home Music Server in the Home App on the desktop PC, all I see is a line that displays the local PC's machine name followed by the name I set for my music library when I enabled Windows Media Streaming. If I click on that line, I get a response that says "Resource request failed: 500". If I open the Home App log file, I see this entry related to the request:

[WARNI] UPnP failed: url:http://192.168.1.91:2869/upnphost/u...48e77+urn:upnp-org:serviceId:ContentDirectory, Browse, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><s:Envelope s:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" xmlns:s="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"><s:Body><u:Browse xmlns:u="urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:ContentDirectory:1"><ObjectID>0</ObjectID><BrowseFlag>BrowseDirectChildren</BrowseFlag><Filter>*</Filter><StartingIndex>0</StartingIndex><RequestedCount>0</RequestedCount><SortCriteria></SortCriteria></u:Browse></s:Body></s:Envelope>, <Response [500]>

In contrast, if I add one or more folders to My Music in the Home App on the desktop PC, I can access that media and play it on the C10 from any device running the Home App (as long as the Home App is running on the desktop PC). Can anyone tell from this information what might be preventing the Home Music Server feature from working? It appears UPnP is not working, but is that not also used for My Music? Oh yeah, no VPNs in use on my network. Thanks!

I'm not an expert, but this last paragraph should be enough to tell that the problem is not with the X10 or the WiiM Home app on your mobile devices.

As you found out, the beta version of the WiiM Home app for Windows does include a very minimalist media server, indeed (as long as it's running). Since you cannot access the music that is supposed to be made available through Windows Media streaming this is where your troubleshooting should start.

To be honest, dealing with this Windows feature has never been a delight and I have avoided it as much as possible.

WiiM devices can also access a plain SMB share with no media server running. See e.g. this Help Center article:

If you can access your music this way (without running the Windows WHA) then the problem is most probably really with Windows media sharing.

Good luck.

Welcome.
Maybe install something like minimserver on your pc, point it at your music folder, and then see if the wiim app (on mobile device, but maybe on pc too) can see it in Home Music Share.
There have been a few threads in this forum about issues with trying to use Windows to share music.

Thanks for the responses; I will continue to experiment and troubleshoot. As an alternative I did install Plex Media Server and added it as a Music Service in the mobile app. This does allow me to play media from the desktop PC without requiring the Home App to be running; albeit at the cost of having an additional service running.
