Introducing the WiiM Edition of the Audio Pro A10 MKII and C10 MKII

Yeah that what I'm trying to figure out literally right now, lol. So the non WiiM versions (C3, C5, C5A, T3+) will require the Audio Pro app I guess?

If the non-WiiM edition vanilla Audio Pro speakers are WiFi, then it’s likely they can be grouped with WiiM devices given, as mentioned, they have Linkplay modules at their core and from what I recall of the audio pro app, it’s a cut down less feature rich version of the WiiM home app. However, I recall owners saying they’re visible in the WiiM app.

Audio Pro speakers have been mentioned in the forum in previous posts - maybe a group search for audio pro will be helpful.

Thank you, just did the group search and will sort through.

I feel like scratched vinyl here, but so be it:
AudioPro stuff is fully compatible with the WiiM Home App and with WiiM devices. In fact the WiiM stuff is fully compatible with the AudioPro app as well. I have 3x A10 MkII's that play 100% with my WiiM Pro Pluses. The only thing I can't do with my A10s that I can do with my Pro Pluses is use room correction / parametric eq. But the A10s are just little smart speakers with perfectly adequate digital tone controls, so I'm not sure lack of PEQ is meaningful.

Is it not also the case that the A10 Mkii (WiiM edition or not) can’t be grouped with echo devices or used as echo group preferred speakers as they don’t support Alexa, whereas a Pro Plus can? Also, the WiiM editions will support Squeezelite, persistent groups and smart presets, and are likely to be Roon Ready at some point.

So I agree they’re reasonably close, just not 100% compatible for all use cases :)

Absolutely. I don't use Alexa nor Squeezlite.
Persistent Groups is vaporware. Still waiting for my WiiM branded devices to receive this feature.
Linkplay is branded as a backbone for network audio connectivity that can be licensed and applied across product brands. It can be expected that different brands and different products (WiiM doesn't actually produce any speakers whatsoever) will have different inherent features, but can still be compatible in the Linkplay space. That's what we have with AudioPro and WiiM.

I think there's a a Groups plugin within LMS. I recall trying it years ago.

If they sound better than Sonos one's that's a plus for me. Unfortunately, there are about Zero legit reviews that I can find right now...

Who you calling illegitimate :p

I am not a professional reviewer, but I have had my A10s for almost 6 months. They replaced the Ones that I had for many years. I consider myself a casual audio enthusiast. For a $230 ~8" x 6" speaker that meshes with seamlessly with in the Linkplay space, I think they are a great value.
By my ear they have much wider dispersion than the Sonos One, a little more high frequency extension, and about the same bass response. They are well made and come from a company that has been around for decades.

Well, I mean I can google "reviews" for JBL Authentics, Marshall, Denon and get a bunch of results but when I look for anything "Audio Pro" not much comes back. And a few are the AI generated garbage so Just disregard them.

I not criticizing them at all, I have a few in my Amazon cart as I type but I'm trying to get more details before I decide the move to this brand.

So to clarify, anything that is considered a Linkplay speaker will work seamlessly with Wiim?

There are other differences too, no Chromecast on the Audio Pro, no Alexa, BBC radio stations don't work properly (you can browse + find them through the app but can't assign to presets, which is a real major bummer for me).

My A10 mk2 does work well with the WiiM home app however. Hopefully that'll continue to be the case. Still holding out for the WiiM edition though...

I can't compare to the Sonos One directly, from memory I think the A10 sounds a little better.

If I were to give you an sound-engineer's perspective on the A10 (mk2), it's very well balanced, no boomy muddy low-end (often the way with these small speakers), well balanced vocal range with no obvious resonances or peaks and the high end is good too. I occasionally find myself wanting a tiny bit (maybe 0.5-1dB) more in the 400-800Hz range, but that's a minor niggle and more to do with taste than anything else.

Dispersion is generally very good, maybe narrows a little right at the very top end but that's not much of an issue really for casual listening.

Mine is in a kitchen which is part of an open-plan kitchen/living room in which the main system is a pair of early 1980s KEF loudspeakers. The Audio Pro is certainly better balanced through the mid and high end than the speakers from the 1980s which have a number of issues going on. For a speaker like this to favourably compare to admittedly aged, but at the time quite high-end HiFi speakers should give you an idea of what to expect.
