Introducing the WiiM Edition of the Audio Pro A10 MKII and C10 MKII

There are other differences too, no Chromecast on the Audio Pro, no Alexa, BBC radio stations don't work properly (you can browse + find them through the app but can't assign to presets, which is a real major bummer for me).

My A10 mk2 does work well with the WiiM home app however. Hopefully that'll continue to be the case. Still holding out for the WiiM edition though...

I can Cast to my A10s. Are you talking about something else?

So to clarify, anything that is considered a Linkplay speaker will work seamlessly with Wiim?

Speaking only as a guy who did a fair amount of web searching for a system to replace my Sonos system, the company that developed/owns LinkPlay is the same company that owns WiiM. It appears to me that WiiM is LinkPlay's consumer-side entry into the ecosystem and market they established with the system they developed. The relationship with AudioPro is interesting -- AudioPro has clearly licensed LinkPlay modules for a few of their products (the unfairly maligned AudioPro app actually contains the same header logo and overall GUI as the WiiM Home App), and they are clearly licensing back a couple speakers to WiiM (WiiM does NOT manufacture the "WiiM Edition speakers). LinkPlay is competing with their own clients on a couple levels here.

Anyway, yes, all LinkPlay devices are designed to work together from the beginning. Unless LinkPlay decides to abandon the cross-brand ecosystem they developed, and go all-in proprietary with WiiM, this will continue to be the case. If they choose to go the way of Apple and Sonos, I will ditch them.

Well I just purchased two A10 MKII's from Amazon so I'll give them a shot. I also need a few portable's to throw into the mix to take the place of my move & roam, any suggestions?

No suggestion on the portables.
Hope you like your A10s.

There are increasing issues with controlling older Linkplay modules core functions with the WHA. Things such as presets have to be done in the 4stream or AudioPro apps for devices based on the A31 modules. Once set they can be recalled in the WHA. However grouping works fine and as long as the primary device is a Wiim then all navigation and music streaming works perfectly.

Well, looks like I'll stick with Audio Pro and try one of the Addon T3+'s assuming everything plays together nicely.
Be careful with the Addon model numbers I don't think the T3 has a Linkplay module. I believe the C3 does have a linkplay A31 module, which is last generations and has received its last firmware update in 2022 and will not be getting any further updates. May be worth holding fire to see if the refresh to Wiim versions by AudioPro gets to that device unless you can pick up a cheap one.

Correction, The T3 does not have Wifi, specs are wrong on Amazon.

Yeah I just discovered that a few minuets ago. Amazon specs said wifi but after looking more into it the T3 is only Bluetooth.

Can anyone clarify what make these "Wiim" editions, specifically is it a software or hardware thing? Reason I ask is because I'm wondering about the other WiFi models C5, C10, A15, and if they can or will become "Wiim" editions also. (I apologize if I missed that detail, I reading to many damn pages at once).

Mostly software, but some hardware aspect too I believe.
I'm sure someone will find the corresponding post from wiim before I do.
Might well be in these 17 pages somewhere...

Yeah, it’s been discussed here. What it boils down to is that the WiiM editions have WiiM firmware at their core while the non-WiiM editions don’t - whether they do that with an eFuse, chip or similar , if you buy the older non-WiiM editions , they can’t be made WiiM editions.

Well, I mean I can google "reviews" for JBL Authentics, Marshall, Denon and get a bunch of results but when I look for anything "Audio Pro" not much comes back. And a few are the AI generated garbage so Just disregard them.

I not criticizing them at all, I have a few in my Amazon cart as I type but I'm trying to get more details before I decide the move to this brand.
I'm using audio pro speakers since a few years (before wiim appeared) and have also tried speakers from most of the available alternatives (Google, sonos, Alexa, jbl, Marshall, blusound, denon and a few others). I went with them initially because they sounded better to me than all other alternatives I tried while costing less and also looking better in my opinion. Some months ago I wanted a new speaker for my office and compared the jbl authentics 500 to the audio pro c20. I liked the sound and features of the c20 much better personally. So yes, audio pro produces great speakers.

I just really hope wiim does not break functionality with audio pro with coming features, as this would make a lot of my speakers kind of obsolete. It would be great to get some kind "official" confirmation from the wiim team that wiim devices will keep working with audio pro speakers, even with those coming features like persistent groups.

I wouldn’t expect non-WiiM edition audio pro speakers to work with WiiM persistent groups as their firmware doesn’t support it.

Hi,

Sorry, what do you mean?
The WiiM app is not originally an official Audio Pro speaker app.

It's easy to get
Can I suggest you read the thread title? :devilish: :ROFLMAO:
A10 and C10

No idea if any of the others are being considered, but two for now.
Yeah, I missed this.... I have been cramming the last few days with multiple tabs trying to figure out as much as I can.

I will say one thing, WiiM/Audio Pro (and a few other brands) really have an opportunity here to "steal" or attract Sonos customers who are fed up and have money to spend but it seems like no one is really taking advantage of it.... I feel like it's been a bit of an effort to shop Audio Pro and I'm still not 100% sure on setting all this up.

Wife gave me a turntable for xmas which led to me having to get some speakers (Audioengine A2-HD's) which led me to Wiim and now I'm purchasing Audio Pro hardware so, Its her fault...

Yes I'm aware of this. But apart from wiim specific features generally all audio pro speakers (as far as I know and tried) can be grouped with wiim devices and controlled via the wiim app and vice versa. This is quite important for my use case, as it means my mix of wiim and audio pro devices can all be grouped together (via the app or automatically via home assistant), which was actually my main reason for going with the wiim amp after owning several audio pro speakers. And I hope this continues to work, even when new wiim features like persistent groups are released.

Hypothetically if such a feature would break compatibility with audio pro features like grouping, I would have to get rid of all my wiim stuff and get audio pro streamers instead.
