Introducing the WiiM Edition of the Audio Pro A10 MKII and C10 MKII

Also got A10 update. ‘Grayed’ top line to ‘Rename’.

Fixed Volume Output gone.

Still no smart presets.

Hi all, I'll check with the team to confirm, but could you help me understand a good use case for "Fixed Volume Output" on the A10 or C10? That's a feature usually used for feeding a device down the line which doesn't make too much sense to me to use on a speaker.

For people seeing issues in the app with balance settings not showing when playing, make sure you provide feedback in app please! I'm trying to reproduce it myself and haven't had any luck on that.

This was a pretty huge update for the software on these devices, but there will be more to come! I'll make sure the team knows people are looking for smart presets to be added to them as well. Is there a specific feature you're looking for @conn that's on other WiiM devices already?

No use case for Fixed Volume Output, AFAIC. I pointed out that it is gone now, just because it was there originally and that made no sense.

And yes, smart presets on A10/C10 and Amp Pro, please.

To be honest, I would expect the WiiM edition speakers firmware to be pretty much in a par with other WiiM devices, hardware differences - and Alexa - aside, as I viewed them as speakers with the smarts of a WiiM Pro/Plus.

I just want the ability to create persistent Groups (Zones/Rooms) and a permanent pair (L/R) of A10's (with proper, physical volume control).

For me that is Multiroom Home Audio at its most basic level.

Persistent groups was just added for the A10 and C10 with the latest update. And that includes setting a speaker as right and left and having them remember that setting after reboots. The volume behavior is something the team is looking into, since it's one of those where different people expect different behaviors from grouped speakers. They're trying to find a good middle ground everyone can be happy with.

It still boggles my mind that this is even a questionable thing, how did everyone adjust their volume on stereo systems in the old days, lol. I guess I'm just used to how my last system's behaved...

I'll check the update out tonight on my A10's and see how they work out (y)

In the specific case of a grouped left and right stereo pair, I would expect the volume controls to work on both speakers equally, with a slider in the WHA to adjust left/right balance. Volume is something I find myself changing constantly, but balance should be mostly set and forget. And when adjusting balance, I want to be standing midway between the speakers, so I would probably be using the WHA anyway.

But this is hypothetical for me, since I only have one A10. Very happy to have it working with persistent groups.

Does persistent groups change how devices appear in AirPlay? I would hope to see say two A10s in the kitchen become a single AirPlay option.

Apparently not because as of now my A10 pair that I just created and named "A10 Pair" show up in Spotify As "A10 pair" but not in Airplay, they only show up as their separate, ungrouped names.... So this is another check against pairing these speakers....

Well I did the update and I'm playing with it, not impressed so far.... All we have now is the ability to create a "dumb" pair of speakers that are not individualized.... They don't even show up in the WiiM app's device list as a pair...

If the speakers are paired (left & right) they should become ONE speaker set with their own volume/tone/eq/balance controls... FOR THE PAIR.

For a group/zone its fine if you have different speaker types (like an A10 & a C10 grouped or zoned) where you would obviously make fine tuning adjustments for each speaker individually but for a pair, they need a single point of adjustment or its just ridiculous to use....

I can only assume WiiM is not expecting people to pair speakers much.

An example of a Sonos pair and what I expected:

Shows up in Spotify twice as a pair (not sure why) and each individual speaker.
I already have about 20 other devices that show up in Spotify connect so its overly cluttered.

Airplay just shows A10 Left A10 Right, not the pair...
