Is my Remote working?

I have the WiiM Pro that I purchased on eBay. It came with a remote. When researching the difference between the Pro and the Pro Plus, in the differences section was the Plus came with a remote and the non-plus did not. Did the non-plus come with a remote at some point? Or maybe the original owner purchased the remote separately.

My main question is, what function does the remote serve? The one that came with the unit does not seem to pair with the unit. I bought a second one and can’t seem to get it to pair either. Maybe it’s paired and I don’t know because I have no idea what function to test.

When I use the iPhone app to pair the remote, it states “Remote not found”. Neither remote paired. I press the 2 buttons for several seconds to put the remote into "Pair" mode. Nothing seems to happen. The LMS server is running and the WiiM is connected to it and functioning properly but the remote does nothing. I have 2 brand new AAA batteries inserted in both.
Both remotes I have behave the same way.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If it's paired there should be a little up arrow like symbol next to the device name on the main wiim Device screen.
It should also show in the Remote menu within the Settings (cog on the right of the volume bar on the Device screen).
As for remote function, volume up / down, next / previous track, power on / off to name a few.
If none of those do anything then, as it seems, the remote isn't paired.

Are you initiating pairing from the Remote menu option in Settings?

Follow this procedure to try pairing again

When the remote is in pairing mode, the card of the remote is displayed on the WiiM app.

BTW, a remote bundled package existed for the WiiM pro.

OK, got it paired (A > arrow next to player name). Thanks.
Still, I don't see any functionality though. Where will I see volume +/- or On/Off? I'm monitoring it on LMS. No apparent functionality there. I press POWER on the remote and it still appears to be ON.

The volume can be found in the WiiM app.

The remote's power button is the Pro's standby on/off button; when the Pro is in standby off, the LED dims. The light does not go off.

As @Wiimer say, then the power button on the remote only changes the standby mode. The WiiM is always on.

Regarding the volume control, the Remote controls the WiiM device volume, not the LMS volume. To have LMS show the volume change it needs to have volume synchronization with the player.

The WiiM Squeezelite implementation do support volume synchronization when used with LMS. So if you use that, it should work.

Thanks Wiimer and hgo58.
I don't see much use for this remote. I'm using my WiiM Pro with LMS and phone app iPeng. iPeng is a much better app than the WiiM as far as I can tell, unless I'm missing something.

I use the remote to select favorite internet stations I have saved, change the volume, mute the sound, and switch to my cd input. Other folks prefer to use the WiiM app to do this.

By holding the microphone button down and speaking into the remote, I can get the name of the song playing on my WiiM.

YMMV
