Let's talk movies & streaming shows

C’est pas sa faute si tout est mieux en français. 😂
The practice of dubbing drives me crazy. I hate the practice. I recall in the 70s seeing the German dubbed version of Dynasty - never got used to hearing the American version.

I suppose it's just a matter of time until AI takes over the role of dubbing. It's already happening with subtitling, where it makes some glaring errors.

Netflix dubbing is abysmal (it’s as if the script is simply being read, with no emotion or “acting”). Ne Le Dis à Personne was a French language production though which pre-dated the recent glut of Harlan Coben films.

We're "no dubs, just subs" people at our house. Our kids like most of their generation use subs on everything 😂 I dare say that it has improved their reading skills

I use subtitling always. Evidently, the profession of sound engineer has died out, almost all English/American dialogue has become unintelligible in movies.

My wife used to translate Taggart for me.
All I knew was there had been a muurdah.
I think that’s a popular myth and the phrase was never actually uttered in the TV show.

I thought Dept Q almost needed subtitles at times, those east coasters ;)

I had so little idea what they said I believed anything.
It's probably a good job we all write here rather than speak... I'd probably mistake you for an Eastie ;)

We're currently watching 'Crooks' on Netflix, season 1, 8 episodes. It definitely keeps you hooked, there's always something going on. Full of clichés, but still fun. Season 2 is in the starting blocks.

'1883' on netflix. in germany we call this genre 'western' and i love it. sam elliott, tim mcgraw, faith hill. 👍
there is a follower. '1923'. let's see.
What a depressing series. Being on that wagon train was not good.

I like to watch things that are good and also unique. Wednesday on Netflix is very well done. It is Tim Burton to the core. It's weird, funny, scary, and just well filmed. I like to be entertained and this show does it for me.

Reality BBC 4. True storey of low key interrogation of a junior NSA translator who leaked to the press over Abu Grahib - Sentenced to 15 years. Nice dog & cat.

The colors are certainly incredibly beautiful. Is the saturation deliberately increased? 🤔

I've started watching Episode 5.
But I was so engrossed in my smart phone that I need to watch it again from the beginning 😅

Colony (Sci-fi series)

Another load of unintelligible rubbish obviously written & produced by artistic inmates doing community service probation. Better use of their time & efforts would have been spent painting coal white, then black again.
