Is there anyway to use this with my WiiM amp?
The Amp does a lot (but not everything) the Ultra does. For the Ultra you just need a simple power amplifier without all the streaming features of the Amp, because the Ultra already has those features.

Technically it would be doable, but doesn't make much sense.

No. Can I amplify the WiiM Ultra with the WiiM Amp? I don”t care about room correction.

Obviously you can run the WiiM Ultra into the WiiM Amp's RCA input. Unless you already own the WiiM Amp and really want the Ultra for a few extra features like the screen and phono stage, I'm not sure why you'd want to go with this setup :) as others have stated: you need just a simple (power)amplifier, maybe with a trigger input or detection of incoming audio.

If you were to do that, then you’d be using the DAC in the Ultra and the DAC in the Amp as it digitises its analog inputs. If you used the optical out from the Ultra you wouldn’t be using its DAC, just the Amp’s, so as you say, all the Ultra would be offering is its display and potentially its phono stage, but again if it’s the latter that’s needed, you’d probably get a better and cheaper phono stage than what the Ultra costs…

Thanks. I already own the WiiM Amp. I am interested in the Ultra for the screen. I’ll probably just wait for an Amp Ultra.

Ah yes I hadn't thought about optical :) it's probably better - to keep the audio in the digital domain to connect to the amp.

Questions about WiiM Ultra

I was hoping that the Ultra was a Streamer with a screen for those who do not use phones, but I see that it is only a preamp with streaming ability. Unfortunately it is not compatible for integration into my system. I wonder if WiiM will be coming out with a streamer with a screen that doesn't really on phones and has RCA, COAX, TOSLINK connections andcan be run on WiFi or hard-wired (Ethernet)?

I’d very much doubt that they’d release a streamer that doesn’t rely on a mobile phone or tablet to set up

Sadly, that makes sense. I don't mind needing a phone or tablet to "Set Up", but for operating, no thanks. I miss my old Logitech Squeezebox Touch. I still have it, but it no longer gets Spotify and many other services. I use streaming for research and background music on occasion. I don't formally listen. For that I go to vinyl or CD, but streaming is invaluable for research! I have a preamp and don't need another or a different one. I don't think I will ever find a compatible streamer, nobody makes them. All I have is an Alexa and that is a pain to use for this. Of course, I have my PC, but it is not movable and I also don't want to be chained to that.

If you do not have a phone, you may not be able to use the Wiim since it needs it for setup and updates. However, there are a lot of streamers on the market and most let you set the volume output to fixed (at 0 dB). So, when you say no one makes a "compatible streamer," it is not clear what you mean by "compatible." You can certainly use a Wiim device, and others, with a pre-amp.

Something that runs Android like the Fiio R7 or Eversolo DMP-A6 is probably what you want :)

The WiiM Ultra is not much different from the other WiiM devices. It's OS is closed and some stripped down version of Linux, with the functions/options accessible on its touchscreen.

I’m sure the LMS aficionados will jump in, but I understood that since the demise of squeezebox.com, you can set up your own local LMS (on an raspberry pi for example)and continue to use your squeezebox touch. Also, all WiiM devices bar the Mini have an inbuilt Squeezelite client and support output from LMS.

Hang on why does your Squeezebox Touch no longer get Spotify? It will if you run an LMS server.

I have a phone, but only 2GB data, I don't use it for that, I can't operate it in that way. I have a tablet, so both can be used for "setup", but not daily operation because they would go dead half way through an album as they do not hold charge long.
by "compatible" I mean just a streamer that I can integrate into my component system, not an amp, preamp, phono stage, and everything else I already have and don't need to swap out. For example, I can't integrate the Ultra into my system because it is a full preamp and will override or I would need to swap out my existing preamp and phono stage and everything.
