NOOB question for Wiim Amp Pro

Hi all,

I’ve bought a WiiM Amp Pro for a family room to stream music via Tunein, Spotify and Tidal. I’m impressed. It with the Def Tech D7’s has replaced a Sonos Beam 2, which gave me no end of trouble with wifi issues.

It’s got me thinking about an Amp Pro or Amp Ultra in the lounge to replace my ageing Yamaha AVR. I have Scansonic M20’s for L & R, a Scansonic Centre and Polk PSW111 sub. I don’t run rears. I have thought about it but can’t be bothered with running the cables.

My question is - does either the Amp Pro or Amp Ultra have a phantom centre option? I know it won’t replace a physical centre, but am tempted to retire the Yammy.

Thanks.

Welcome.

See this, which you can also get to from the 'Wiim Support' menu option at the top of this page (and search for downmix).

It's more about explaining why the .1 is missing, but confirms the rest are all included.

When playing Dolby 5.1 content on a single WiiM device, the device uses the Dolby decoding library to downmix the 5.1 audio into stereo. According to Dolby specifications, only the main five channels (Front Left/Right, Center, Surround Left/Right) are included in the downmix—the LFE channel is excluded. As a result, the subwoofer will only output low-frequency sounds in the stereo mix, not the dedicated LFE effects.
