Optical input takes WiiM Pro offline

I purchased a WiiM Pro about a month ago. It is connected via Ethernet to serve as a Roon and Spotify streamer in front of my stereo pre-amplifier, for which it works flawlessly. However, I was also hoping to use it as a pass through/DAC for a CD player, which I have connected to the optical input of the WiiM Pro. Almost every time that I use the CD player the WiiM Pro seems to go offline -- the signal light on the front turns red, the WiiM Home App can no longer find the device (or it shows up as offline), and it has disappeared from Roon as an endpoint. I typically have to power cycle the Pro for it to become available as a streamer again. The problem happens if I'm connected via WiFi or Ethernet and if I have optical in auto-sensing enabled or if I manually switch to optical in via the app. I've submitted a ticket (#524195) but I thought I would check with the community here as well. Thanks for any help or advice!

That is not normal. I recommend to send a message via feedback.

Yes, as I noted in my original post I have submitted a ticket through the app to WiiM support (#524195). I have not heard anything back from support yet. The Pro was purchased from Amazon a month ago so I am not sure about a return at this point but it does seem likely that I received a faulty unit.
