Offline mode for Wiim Ultra in a future Firmware Update

Hi,

I’d like to suggest adding an offline mode to the Wiim Ultra in a future firmware update. Specifically, a mode where you can at least access the Phono and Line In inputs without requiring a phone or an active internet connection.

It seems unreasonable that internet access should be necessary to play records from a turntable or to use a CD player or cassette deck connected to the Line In. These are standalone, physical media sources that don’t rely on the internet, so the Wiim Ultra shouldn’t need it to function as a preamp or phono stage.

For example, not long ago, I was doing some home renovations that required my router to be dismantled for several days. During that time, I would have been able to use the Wiim Ultra to listen to my records if only there had been an offline mode. Unfortunately, the lack of this feature made it impossible to even access the basic menu settings.

If it were possible to access the USB drive in an offline mode as well, that would be an even bigger improvement. However, at a minimum, being able to use the Phono and Line In inputs would already make a significant difference.

Adding an offline mode would greatly enhance the device’s versatility and ensure it remains useful in situations where internet access is unavailable.

Thanks for consdiering this!

I am also on the latest firmware and this is all I get with the router off, no matter what I do.
I had the same problem. Now I have given the Ultra a manually assigned IP address (in the Ultra, not in the router), since then the problem no longer exists.

I am incompetent on all these subjects of IP address etc. maybe a mode based on the telephone tablet as a network point if no router is found but the wiim etc. would be useful......?
the audio does not consume so much data..see in "castrated" mode?

and therefore also a mode of orders... without any streaming if no networks?

a kind of logical continuation... tempted- tested by wiim home . (for people like me..)

;-)

Still no reply to my request from Wiim. But I really hope they can fix this.

Did you answer the automated "ticket received" mail?

Please note: While our team reads all the submissions, due to the volume of tickets, we will only reply to tickets that require additional assistance to resolve the issue. For feedback or submissions about known issues, we will take note and resolve it in an update. If you would like a reply from us, please reply to this ticket to let us know.

If you don't reply, WiiM won't contact you unless they think it's absolutely necessary.

Hope the function on the roadmap fits your expectation. Your case is not common, may need warranty service.

Yes I did! After no reply on that I sent another email again asking for feedback.

Just discovered that I can play my local music when my internet has gone
I run an eero mesh network so my wireless is working in the house but my internet router has no connection ATM
So at least I can play my local library 😊

Nothing new about that been doing that for years with LMS server.

My sympathies to the OP. Trying to setup an Ultra via wifi on a network whose router is not connected to the Internet appears to be a bizarre and possibly fruitless exercise.
I have just spent a couple of hours trying various options using a phone and a tablet, trying with wireless and bluetooth options, without success, until I reconnected the router to my landline+ internet. During this period the route was powered on, and connected via ethernet to my laptop, and I could ping around the network (to other devices) from the laptop.
I had a green flashing light on the Wiim and also a white flashing light, and finally got the tablet to connect, either via Bluetooth or wifi I'm not sure which, but it would not pass the 'Setup' screen at all, until I reconnected the router to the Internet and rebooted it. My router does provide internal network addresses to connected devices and also acts as a DNS server. This means that, when the Internet services provision has an external failure, I can still access devices on my network, over internal cabled (Ethernet) connections.
Using the router just as an ethernet hub, with static IP addresses for specific devices such as the router, the laptop and the Wiim, does work without Internet access, but I suspect you need to setup a static IP address in the Wiim in advance, before your Internet goes down.
If I can summon enough willpower I will try all this again in the next few days and report back if I find an alternate or perhaps more detailed set of options.
