Hi

I have one Nad Power amp and one Audio Note P2 SE (tubes amp).

At the moment i have one Denon Av as pre-amplifier. WiiM Ultra will be my first Streamer.

Can you give one idea, by your experiences, about the performance of the WiiM Ultra as pre-amplifier ?

My initial idea is to have one streamer and pre-amp together.

Thank you and best regards

John

I use an Ultra straight to a poweramp. It is excellent. You will need to check what your power amp needs in mv ( millivolts rms). Mine was looking for 700 mv rms but I set it to 500 mv rms and it's plenty loud. You will find this in the audio settings in the ultra under audio settings. You will find out what your poweramp needs online or owners manual. RonnieD

i use my Ultra as a preamp into my Willsenton R8 tube amp. Use the volume control on the WiiM. Works perfectly.

I had purchased a purpose-built preamp from Schiit, but after a little while with my ultra, I realized it was superfluous. The ultra is an awesome preamp, and adding another box just puts another device in the signal path for no good reason. For what it’s worth, my amp is a little Fosi Audio V3, which I can also recommend. I can’t claim to be an expert listener, but I have been into ‘mid range’ equipment for 30+ years, and this setup sounds as good as anything I’ve had.

PS: not sure if the Fosi will meet your needs. I have a very small room, so it is more than powerful enough.
