Phono Ouput still Low WITH +36db Preamp on Line Input

Good question - that I haven't done. Will check tonight.
As an update, I hooked up an old MP3 player to the line in inputs and there were no volume issues. I swapped out my phono preamp for an ART Precision Phono Pre, which has adjustable gain. With the gain cranked to the max on the phone preamp, the Wiim pre-gain maxed out, and the amp volume maxed out the turntable output was audible (not loud, but louder than a whisper) but really badly distorted. Going to swap out a turntable from another room and see if that makes any difference.

At least this proves that the problem is not with the line input of your WiiM Amp Pro ...
Yeah, which seems like bad news. It’s working as designed - which suggests that there is a fundamental problem with the design. I was hoping that there was just something wrong with my particular unit. Fingers crossed that the turntable swap will fix things.

Na, rather not a design flaw. The WiiM Amp and WiiM Amp Pro have an input sensitivity of 2 Volt for full output (as has been the industry standard for roughly 40 years).

Phono preamps sometimes put out less than that, but even a typical minimum of 500 mV is "only" 12 dB down. I say "only", because this could almost completely be compensated for by Pre-Gain. You wouldn't notice a 2 dB difference.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

The input sensitivity of the Audiolab 8000A is only 100mV even for the CD input 😱

Well, the turntable swap worked. Can now play vinyl very loudly. Still a bit baffled as to why I had problems with the other turntable, but not motivated enough to actually dig any deeper.

Well I guess because the “other” turntable is not working properly and the one you swapped in is working properly? You literally said there was a fundamental problem with the design of the amp lol I think we can assume that isn’t the case.
