Wiim needs a decent random/shuffle mode to playback tracks in random order. It needs to select from the entire USB device. If a device can be inserted directly into a USB socket in the back of the Wiim for playback then other NAS or bubbleupnp app solutions are not a solution.
The lack of a "Shuffle All" or "Random All" feature is head scratching. How hard could it be to implement that? Heck, the original ancient iPods had this feature 15+ years ago. Every Android music player app I've ever used scans/builds a library and offers a shuffle all feature. I have no desire to use or dig into Casting, DLNA or NAS servers or anything of that nature. I've reported this feature request several times through the Wiim Home app but have not received any response. I imagine they have bigger fish to fry and maybe someday they might entertain getting around to adding such a feature...

Why should BubbleUPnP not be a solution? You can point BubbleUPnP to the WiiM's media server as a source and then stream to the same device. I only have the free version of BubbleUPnP which is limited with regards to shuffle play but I have a paid Hi-Fi Cast license, which can do the same.
I agree, but these are still two different things.
I totally understand that everyone has different needs. Far more expensive music rippers with built-in storage apart I have not seen a device yet providing a more convenient user interface for USB storage. But there's nothing wrong with improving functionality and removing limitations.
