RCA cable recommendation for coaxial digital - up to 192kHz

Hello,

I am using a WiiM Pro and using the coaxial digital output. To avoid a bunch of trial-and-error, I am looking for recommendations on RCA cables that you know from experience will work all the way up to 192kHz. I am currently using a Mogami 2964 RCA cable (brand: World's Best Cables) that I originally purchased for an analog audio interconnect, and it was fine up to 96 kHz, but silent at 192kHz.

Note: I did find an old set of component video cables lying around and I did have success using one of them for 192kHz files, so I know the rest of my setup is OK for playing 192. But this cable is way longer than I want to use, so I am in need of a new RCA cable that will work for 192kHz daudio.

Thank you,
Greg

Well, holy hell...now I'm back to where I was before... the 192kHz files give me no sound at the output. If I change the max to 96kHz, then I get sound but of course it's downsampled to 96kHz, even though the screen shows that I'm playing a 192kHz file. Either my Wiim Pro has a problem outputting 192kHz data over the coax output, or my cables aren't handling it. But I would think that a well made Mogami 2964 cable would be able to do this.

I realise you've already confirmed this, but the Coax output resolution screen in the WiiM app is set to the same configuration as this screenshot, correct?

Even when the AVR is in direct mode, is it not possible to playback 192kHz?

The Cinema 50 manual does not specify the maximum sampling rate for the coaxial input.

The manual states as follows:

Playable sources (192kHz compatible)
"It supports playback of DSD files and high-resolution audio sources stored on music servers or USB memory. DSD files up to 5.6MHz and PCM files up to 192kHz/24bit can be played."

It might be best to enquire with Marantz support.

OK, so I dug around through my assortment of old cables and found an old Monster stereo audio RCA pair and tried using one of them to connect the WiiM coax output to my AVR. Success! The 192kHz file played and sounded fine, and the status window on the AVR also shows that it's receiving/playing a 192kHz data stream. I really did not think my RCA cables (the Mogami) were the issue, but it seems that may be the case, since using this old RCA cable that I just tried seemed to work fine. So at least it appears that the WiiM Pro is good.

Cables are a weird thing.....

Funny...this thread has come full circle. I'm now back to my original question of recommendations for a new RCA cable that will carry192kHz audio. The cable that just worked for me is way longer than I want to use in my setup.

I did see a recommendation for Audioquest Forest, so I'll look into that.

I apologize for not having tried this other cable earlier - I appreciate all of the help from you all who replied.

Great that you solved it! What type/model is the Mogami cable and the connectors? There might be something wrong with one or both rca connectors, bad soldering, loose connection or otherwise.

It is indeed strange - I really can't fathom why the Marantz would show 96khz for the 192 track and still play the music.
Surely the wiim is outputting 192khz.
I've also personally never had any rca cable whatsoever, even 'analog' ones, fail to work at 192khz.
The only time I had coax issues at 192khz was occasional dropouts, and that was 'cos the cable wasn't fully seated.
