Recording audio with the WiiM Ultra

Phono pre-amps with built in USB out for recording.

There are quite a few around but the vast majority are low end as far as the ADC is concerned and only capable of 16/48. Why is this? Part of it is to do with drivers (or lack of them to be precise). Devices that only operate up to 16/48 don't need drivers to operate with Windows, Linux or Mac.

Thngs like the NAD PP4 are limited to 16/48 but unlike many others the NAD does have a gain control.

I did find one Phono pre-amp that includes USB Audio Class 2 circuitry (24/192) but it isn't seemingly available in UK - https://www.korg.com/us/products/audio/ds_dac_10r/

If anyone knows of any other device then I'd be interested to know about it.
I have one of these.

That’s surely simply too dangerous. WiiM won’t want complaints about blown speakers.

It’s already an option? Just not at the same time as a variable output from another connection
You are of course correct. I was being dense. I even have my Mini set to fixed output over optical!!

I can.
First, I would not use the USB cable referred to above it is just too basic and you will get only 16/48 from it at best.
I use a Behringer UMC204HD which is hooked up to the Tape output of my amp but any line level output will work - so downstream of the phono pre-amp whether that is an Ultra or whatever. The Behringer is capable of 24/192 but this is IMHO overkill for Vinyl rips. I digitise at 24/96.
There are cheaper bits of kit that will do the job and also vastly more expensive ones. The cheaper ones work but only produce Ok results.
As to software - VinylStudio from Alpinesoft - its about £30 but takes a ton of effort out of the equation. Yes you can achieve good results with Audacity but it will take you twice as long.
I know this post is almost a year old, but Google brought me here. Is the Behringer and software with the expense for JUST recording from vinyl? It seems to be sold for podcast/vocal/recording work. Also, how else can I use it with my WiiM Ultra/Laptop etc?

There are a several options to digitize the output of your turntable, a number of which are described above.
Regardless of the route you choose you will need a means of raising the audio output of your turntable to a reasonable level ( a preamp), a connection to a computer (analog or digital), and computer software capable of recording audio.
You do not need to spend much money.
If you describe the turntable you have and how it is currently connected it will help others give you a more targetted davice

IIRC the Fluance does not include a built in phono stage so presumably you are using the Ultra phono input.
What is connected downstream from the Ultra and how?

Probably the cheapest sensible start point is a Behringer UFO202 which includes a phono stage. To use this with an Ultra you’d need to switch to the line in input on the Ultra and set the UFO202 to monitor the signal with the USB connected to your PC to record and provide power.
Turntable -> UFO202 -> Ultra

The similarly speced and priced Behringer UAC222 also has an optical output which would allow you to connect

Fluance -> Behringer -optical-> Ultra
So has the UAC202 but the UACs don’t have phono stage

Currently it is Fluance, Ultra, Kanto YU6 powered speakers. Have not set anything up yet to record.
