With the remote control we have access to 4 presets buttons. A new Remote Control Pro is necessary (or plus, or ultra). The WiiM Home App has 12 and we need to access them all, it would totally change the WiiM experience with enough music diversity without having to use a phone.

There are many possibilities to access preset 5 to 12:
- Add 2 buttons below the 1, 2, 3 & 4 saying "5-8" and "9-12"
- Add 2 buttons 5 and 6 below the 1, 2, 3 & 4 and implement double click to access 7 to 12
- Add 2 buttons 5 and 6 and a third one for "7-12"
- Double tap on the buttons 1, 2, 3 & 4 to access 5, 6, 7 & 8 and Triple tap on the buttons to access the 4 next (suggested in this post and in this

Have you guys ever seen a Blu-ray player remote? I have a Sony blu ray player and the remote is small with a lot of buttons. The WiiM remote’s narrow design and fat buttons is waste of space. Its fine for the basic design but we want something with more functional preset buttons and ALL 5 input selections. This should be easy for WiiM to develop and if you don’t need a remote don’t buy it. Just use the app if you’re happy. I personally don’t want to use my phone for every selection.

Sounds like a good idea, but how do you see this working as these buttons are already go forwards and backwards within a playlist?
There would have to be a firmware update for the remote control, and perhaps you would have to select one of the existing number buttons to enable skipping through the presets.

... but it you select a number, you're in a preset list and forward button will go to the next song. Maybe backwards is useless at this moment and could be used for what you propose

Not in my case, my presets are used for radio stations.

For starters, buttons 1-4 should respond to 2 and 3 clicks and it should be possible to program them to any function. Not only presets but also eq selection, source selection and others.

12 separate presets and 5 separate input selection buttons. This should be easy for WiiM to make a remote with these base functions.

Yes, there should be a remote control sold separately with at least 8 or 10 different preset buttons. There is much empty space on the lower part of the remote that is not used yet. It would improve the usability of the unit a lot and very easy to produce.

Do you mean the space that is currently occupied by the batteries?

Yes, exactly. Good engineers can produce a remote with buttons on the whole front, no matter if there is a battery compartement beneath or not.
Or like BK308 said as a rechargeable unit.
It's just not as efficient as it could be with more preset selection buttons.
Or just two buttons to go up & down in combination with a mini displayed digital number with the selected preset number.
Currently you always have to use your phone to access the presets.

I am firmly in the "more preset buttons, please" camp.

For those who do not like fat and wide remotes, Bluesound has already shown the way, as they sell one separately that is only slight longer than the WiiM Remote:

I use my WiiM Amp Pro in my PC setup for near-field listening and for streaming radio stations directly when my PC is off. Having 10 presets would greatly enhance the value of the device for me and I would not mind having to buy it separately. Four (radio station) presets is just too few. Something like the Bluesound remote would be perfect for me.

I totaly agree.

In addition the WiiM remote also need to be able to control more than one device.

And multiple remotes can be used for same devices.

That is the only way it make sense in a multi room/device setup.

The current remote is simply too primitive for the WiiM device ecosystem.

A new remote that we can buy as an add-on with these functions would be welcome.

So basically you’re describing the WiiM home app? ;)

Seriously though you’d need some sort of WiFi remote to select which device you want to control as I don’t think Bluetooth, RF or similar could easily support that. Or you’d need something along the lines of a harmony hub that acted as a gateway between multiple remotes and multiple devices.

I was thinking of a remote connected to the nearest WiiM device, that then distributed the control to the others. So yes, as a hub imbedded in each WiiM device. In a multi room setup, multiple remotes could connect to each device in each room.

Just thinking out loud, as a retired software engineer 🤪
