Remote won't pair with Wiim Amp

Similar to some other posts here - I've bought a new WiiM Amp and the remote just wont pair!
I've tried to full factory reset.
I've tried holding the buttons on the remote for pairing mode.
The phone WILL show the popup to pair, but it always fails after 30 seconds. This suggests that the remote's bluetooth is ON and app can detect that the remote is there...
The phone's bluetooth does see the remote, but it won't pair via the bluetooth settings page (not via app).

I've raised a ticket #514669 but its been over a week.

Any ideas on what else to try?

I've seen this a total of once after accidentally resetting it to factory, remove the batteries from the remote for a few seconds, then try and pair it again, perhaps this is anecdotal, but worked for me.

Thanks Cooky! I gave it another go, but no dice. Support has gotten back to me finally suggesting it may be a defective remote, so I'll chase it up with them. Thank you!

I just tried to pair my remote with my Wiim Pro Plus and tried two sets of new rechargeable batteries. After reading comments on this forum I tried with a new set of Duracaell and it paired first time. I tested the batteries and one set had voltages of 1.26V, the other brand new Amazon rechargeables had one dead battery. The Duracells were 1.5xx V so it seems that there is an issue with the lower volatage 0f rechargeables.
