In the end, it was a letter in a bubble envelope. I tried the adapter right away. Unfortunately, it doesn't work. Apparently, Sonos has modified the HDMI connection so that it only works with Sonos soundbars. What a shame — obviously a total loss!

Pin 18 on a standard HDMI interface do have +5V. Maybe that is not available on the WiiM? As the WiiM is a HDMI "sink" device this, I think, is normal. Maybe the Sonos is different here?
I will not investigate further. I decided to be satisfied with my line-out to line-in workaround. Frankly spoken I do not hear a difference to a Toslink connection of the same source (DAB). And for high quality listening I use my PC on the Amp Pro's Toslink.
So I finished my setup and start listening to Music now
This morning I could not resist to start another try .. I felt like in a bad movie first. I removed the line-in plugs to avoid an error ,, and the music continued! Somehow my Wiim Pro and the Amp Pro had connected via Lan. After switching to Toslink and back the connection was lost again and I did not succeed in reaching reliable conditions.
But I tried the Arc adaptor one more time with another HDMI cable, I remembered there are also cables on market with only part of the pins connected. So I choosed a new high quality cable - and it WORKS!
So now I have my two digital audio inputs and I start to love my Amp Pro ..
Edit: after some time of listening I realized that the HDMI Arc input sounds clearer than my former line-in/out workaround. Thus a real improvement.
the Sonos optical to HDMI ARC works perfectly with the WiiM Ulra HDMI ARC input (as well):
this is out of my own personal experience, as I found the adapter locally in a (local) online computer chain at a reasonable price, so I ordered it.
connected it from my laptop using SMSL P0100 (2024) DDC to the adapter and CableMatters 1.5 meters HDMI cable to the Ultra. works flawlessly.
