Something Big is Coming to WiiM Home

Hi Treaty, Team

Thank you very much for your valuable insights and thoughtful feature list. I’m happy to confirm that your suggestions are well-aligned with our roadmap.
Additionally, we're also considering the integration of song lyrics as part of future updates. I’ll work with our team to develop a tentative timeline and will share an update with you shortly.
Thanks for the response. Fantastic. Lyrics would be cool. Any and all metadata is welcome! ;)

So I don't suppose any TV wide app versions are on the cards? I think my LG OLED uses WebOS (so even an Android version wouldn't help). I don't plan on buying an AppleTV device anytime soon (maybe that will change), but I would love this feature.

Yes. You’re missing the fact that, just because you don’t see the point, others can.

If you don’t want to look at the artwork on your TV, you don’t have to. Others would like to do so.

Is it possible to explain why? Or why we prefer a certain flavour ice cream over an other? Does everyone have to justify their tastes?

I’d have thought the easiest explanation is this. When we were all vinyl, people loved nice packaging, booklets, gatefold sleeves, etc.

When we went to CD, even CD lovers missed that large scale artwork. When we went to controlling streaming apps from our phones, the artwork got even smaller, and less satisfying.

Now we can put it on a big telly, it’s bigger than a 12” gatefold used to be.

And that’s as good an explanation as I can give you.
Personally, I generate more power via solar than I use, so electricity cost is negligible. And the time I want it most is when I'm entertaining, where having a group of people huddling around a tiny screen is antithetical to the environment I'd want. But that's kind of beside the point. I think a pretty large percentage of the population would consider the money and time we spend on audio to be much more obsession than value add. Should a plethora of people being happy with an Amazon echo mean someone who's not shouldn't want or be able to get something they perceive as better? Or that we're wrong for wanting it? Value is in the eye of the beholder, and just because one beholder doesn't see it doesn't mean others don't/shouldn't. If we're going to go down the path of "things I don't like have no value", that's a pretty slippery slope, and one that can cut pretty hard in more than one direction.

That’s why a fire tv stick version would be great - they can be had for as little as £25 when there’s a sale on, a fraction of the cost of an Apple TV box

I have an LG TV with WebOS. It has a reasonably good browser and a magic wand remote and using Lyrion and Material plugin I can easily display what’s playing on the TV.

You can get a Roku Express for pretty cheap too. And unlike Apple or Amazon, they don't have the same financial incentive to put up barriers to their users getting their video and music content from someone else. That's why as a totally unbiased Roku user, I think they should stop all other development and focus on the Roku app.

Maybe an android stick will do the trick (much cheaper than Apple TV device)…

I myself have a 22” Samsung led monitor. If the app for android meets my expectations I would stick an android pen era voilá. It would be awesome if the app would permit some kind of users graphics development (some kind of configuration or so) where one could choose position of items, Letter size and type, and some own designed vu-meters 😂

and a disco ball "dynamic"!!!
please....🥺

The VU meter and spectrum analyzer lobby are powerful... with powerful political levers...

I'm aware that it's to be a tough fight to be at the top of the pile!!!

Panem et circenses!

Well... I don't use Qobuz, only use analog and USB outputs and don't make any active "political campaign" against them :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Hi castalla, team

Our team is still actively working on the Android version, but we don’t have a timeline to share just yet.
As soon as we get closer to launch, I’ll make sure to update you right away. Thanks for your patience, and please stay tuned!
It will be a very good day when I can add Wiim app to this Android TV setup:

From a pure design point of view:
- The album art area could be made significantly larger by allowing it to go edge to edge (left, top and bottom edges). In general a focus on reducing unused screen space (which is now very high)
- The meta data area (including progress bar) to be then on the right side

For the meta data area:
- Make the progress bar less boring and richer with a waveform (see Plexamp/Symfonium for examples)
- Different background options could be added (now a boring gray). Some ideas:
-- make the color adapt/tune based on the album art colors
-- AND/OR album art projected sized blurred
-- AND/OR spectrum analyser dancing behind the meta data

Note: Symfonium has a great way allowing fully to configure almost each field (visible or not, and then different visualisation options if available)
