Speaker ports when using crossover

Is it generally worth plugging speaker ports if they are high passed, when placing them close to a wall?

Personally, I think it’s great, and exactly for a reason like yours which is placing them close to walls. It also gives a nice, smooth roll-off, kills group delay, makes the phase easier to match with a sub, and diminishes port resonances further up the frequency response which they all have (some very badly).

Who cares about "generally"? This is one of the easiest jobs. Stick it in, stick it out. What sounds better for you is the general way.
