Can anybody recommend a speaker switch to allow switching between 2 sets of speakers via ome wiim amp ultra .

Do you want banana plug connection instead of bare wire?
Do you want both sets of speakers to be able to be active at the same time?
Do you want to be able to have an 'off' position where neither speakers work?

just a simple switch recommendation .. or is the one i posted ok

1/ either is fine
2/ yes this would be the basics, both or either.
3/ whatever is safe for the wiim amp ultra
4/ both would be passive speakers suitable for wiim so max 8ohms

It seems to do everything you want.
For 24 quid, just get it :)
not something you hear here very often 'just get it' .. maybe i'll just wait to see if there are any more technically advanced recommendations or things to be aware of before .. 'i just get it' .. :ROFLMAO:

Ok.
I use a Dynavox Amp-S MkII for two amps to one set of speakers, but it can be used the other way too.
I thought about a Solupeak S2 P2, SP2 or P3.
What you're looking at is like the SP2, but cheaper.

ok .. from what i can see

1/ the Solupeak S2 seems to be a source switch rather than speaker, and speaker out is 'line' for active speakers.

2/ Dynavox Amp-S MkII looks like only one speaker out so clearly no good

My mistake! (Earlier post edited.)
For the first one, I meant P2, not S2.

(I also have a couple of switch boxes like the S2 though.)

Just wire it up the 'wrong' way so that the 'Amp' selector switch is actually a speaker selection.
Note that only one connection is active, so only one set of speakers will play at a time.

So yes, this may not be the best product for you.

now that does not sound like sensible advice .. 'just wire it up the wrong way round' :ROFLMAO: .. I think I will just wait for a second opinion thats not
'just wire it up the wrong way round', but thank you for your ( pardon the pun ) input (y)

It's marketed as suitable for two amps to one set of speakers, or one amp to two sets of speakers.
All it does is connect two of the three sets of terminals together. There's no direction as such.
So, it's Sound advice (pun intended). :)

so you can switch 2 amps into 1 set of speakers at the same time .. that dosn't sound good

thank you for the 'sound' advice but visually its a fail (n) unless they include speaker 1 speaker 2 labels :p

thank you for the info .. to be honest i think my initial choice should be fine, but i did think the switch needed some sort of electronics to make sure the amp isn't damaged if the speakers are different ohms or power ratings if you wanted to switch A+B speaker selection, ie both sets on.

There are impedance matching speaker selector switches. They are more expensive than the ones discussed so far, but they allow you to set each speaker on or off, including all on, while maintaining a constant impedance. You need an amp that handles a 4 ohm load. I do not think there are any 2 speaker only ones. They normally are 4 or 6 speakers. Niles, Russound and Monoprice are some of the common ones. You can sometimes find they on Ebay.

@dtc .. 'impedace matching' those are the missing words i needed (y) i kind of new it needed to be more than just a simple switch because of the load on the amp.

You can safely use a mechanical switch as long as neither amplifier is switched on when you change the input. It’s not rocket science
