Spotify Spotify Lossless actually sounds very good

I’ve been listening to Spotify Lossless with a variety of classical music and comparing it to Amazon Music HD and Apple Music Lossless High Res. To me it sounds perfectly fine and I much prefer using Spotify to both Amazon and Apple Music (which is a pain to try to play high res music on my system). I’ve tried Spotify in the past but have been put off by the sound. My system is a WiiM Pro connected by co-ax to a Naim SuperUniti - speakers are an old pair of Opera Callas units.

How are other people finding Spotify Lossless?

Remove the ? from the title :)
Yes, it should sound perfectly fine. Only a very poor job of resampling anything originally higher than 44.1khz would cause it to sound worse.
And the damage has already been done in mastering to a lot of the 80s and 90s stuff I listen to!

I agree I am pretty impressed with it on. Apple's reliance on Airplay seems like such a blindspot for them but then I guess in their mind everyone just has Homepods? Airplay it such an inferioer mechanism than Spotify Connect or indeed Qobuz Connect which is excellent too.

Can you edit posts? I’ve not found a way.

Well, just enabled lossless mode on desktop and cellphone, and currently testing both.

Of course ears are gullible, so no comment about absolute audio quality because previous .ogg Spotify files were also quite good.
Overall, I get no differences on same tracks between Spotify and Tidal.

It's hence just a matter of taste (and money).
