Squeezelite can't find lyrion

One of my Pro plus wiims can't find LMS. I've rebooted, factory reset and all the usual stuff. My other pro plus and ultra see it just fine. Obviously I'll raise a ticket.

I have the upnp bridge running anyway (for the minis) and I only use lyrion as a backup/messing about music source. It's not my main/daily music server. It plays my ibroadcast library only, no local music, no radio, no qobuz/tidal/Spotify, no music artist info etc, etc. It runs on a mini pc with debian server and plenty of spare oomph. Basically I just use it to play ibroadcast without chromecast occasionally.

My question is - for my use case is there any real advantage using squeezelite at all, or should I just use the upnp bridge?

Cheers

You need to actively turn on SqueezeLite in the device settings.

Have you tried refreshing by touching the refresh symbol? I sometimes have to do this on my devices, and then it is found.
Yeah, I have tried that a few times, still doesn't find it.
are they on the same IP network, same WiFi band (2.4/5 GHz), etc? Sometimes WiFi is spotty, so relocate for this LMS discovery step?
The box running lyrion is wired in. All the wiims are on the same band and the other 2 work.
I use static IP for all my devices, no issues with it locking onto my Pi5 try doing that
Tried that, rebooted everything. Still didn't work.

The rogue pro plus works fine with lyrion using the upnp bridge plugin. I tried squeezelie on my phone too and that works. It's just the squeezelite on this 1 pro plus that doesn't work.

Thanks for all the suggestions :)

Have you sent feedback to WiiM from the rogue Pro Plus?

If he's got several PP and only one I'd start a ticket. Maybe it needs full reset/firmware reflash?

Well I was just filling the ticket in when I thought I'd try firing up Lyrion on my other computer. The rogue pro plus finds it just fine, so it must be a networking problem not a wiim one. Isn't always a network problem?!

Anyway, I still wonder what advantage squeezelite gives me over the upnp bridge plugin. I guess if I was running it on an old pc or a pi or something then it would take up some resources but this is running on something with 16 cores and 32gig of ram (I bought it for Roon). squeeze2upnp-linux-z86_64 is taking up 0.3% of CPU and perl (squeexeboxserver) 0.5%

Since I use the LMS server, and LMS app, rather prefer that than using a generic UPNP/DNLA service and app.

Yet to find a good UPNP server/app as sorted as LMS. Wouldn't have bought a Wiim if it didn't support squeezelite.

I suppose what I'm asking is, if I'm using the wiims for all dsp, radio, music services; and my server has plenty of spare juice, am I better disabling squeezelite on the wiim devices to save their resources or does squeezelite give me something that the upnp bridge combined with the wiims doesn't?

If you don't use LMS at all, you might as well disable it
But if you do use it I'd leave it installed, I've found it runs better than UPNP bridge.
Usage on the Wiim device won't be much anyway

I only have UPNP bridge plugin enabled in LMS so I can see my TV, AVR, phone etc as a Squeezebox endpoint

Does UPnP support Replaygain?

I’m sure @d6jg will correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t there issues with group sync using the upnpbridge plugin and native Squeezelite clients? Having said that, I seldom group my WiiM devices and am very happy with using upnpbridge for my WiiM Mini.

Thanks this is the sort of thing I'd like to know, not that I ever group my players.

But I might

Yup. This post explains everything

It should provide pretty much all the features of squeezelite, except synchronization that does not and will never work (all you can have is a 2-sec accurate sync start)

That's the relevant bit I guess, so the answer is, for my use case, since I have the bridge for my minis, I may as well use it for all of them.

Most of the time I use a different server anyway.

Thanks all :)
