When moving some stuff I accidentally turned on my wiim amp without the speakers connected to it, I wasn't playing anything.

I read online using a class D amp without a load can damage it, am I likley to have damaged my wiim amp?

I ask because I won't be able to use it again for a few days and I'm a little worried.

No you can't damage it like that. There used to be old tube amps that could get damaged if turned on without a load but beer heard of that issue with an modern amps or class d amps.

Why do the instructions say to always connect speakers before turning on the amp then?

I think that was to avoid shorting the circuit if aware accidentally touched the casing. There was an incident where a reviewer touch the speaker wire on the outer casing and it shutdown the whole unit and had to reboot.

Indeed.
It's not uncommon to completely destroy amps by (un)plugging speakers while the amp is powered on.

Yes, as @Mr Ee explained correctly, this warning is to avoid that people connect their speakers to an amp that is already powered on. It is not meant that you have to have speakers connected if you want to power on the amp.

So I could measure the response of my sub alone for room correction purposes 👍
