Test WIIM pro+ with different power supplies

I'm always disappointed to hear the word 'better' used in the context of this hobby, all personal preferences should be respected (I have owned and enjoyed a wide variety of various analogue, digital, transistor and valve based systems since the mid 1970's).

'Different' is a less controversial word which reflects individual taste - I also happen to prefer spicy food to plain, music to sport, documentary to drama but that shouldn't imply my choices are superior to someone else's.
I vote for "better" in the context of measurements.

If the WiiM Pro Plus required a better power supply, WiiM would have provided it in the box, or available for purchase. It's simple as that.
I would've guessed they would also try to not to offer a product that's not too expensive. Apparently they offer only the best. Good to know. Thank you.

My thoughts about ifi power X and wiim pro plus
I just returned it, don't buy it, just waste of time.
Pro:
Stage a bit wider
Con:
Distortion on mids- hi
Bluetooth it's mutch worse
Now I'm using a link-sys 5v/2A, charger and is decent. I used a apple iPad charger, same decent sound.

Wow. Thanks for sharing.

Out of curiosity: is the distortion you mention really obvious?! Ot is it a small difference? How did you test this?

Yes, it's pretty obvious, using same song I know, can't listen more than couple of minutes at around 83 dB, same settings like with other sources. And Bluetooth it's a mess, I use to link my PC through Bluetooth with the wiim

Wow that's really interesting... I wonder if you got a faulty unit? 🤔

Now I wanna try this for myself, haha! I'm using the normal ipower base model and it sounds good

never experienced any decrease in sound quality with ifis. also no increase 😉. nevertheless, where suitable i use them. could be. at least 😂

Tell my please, how it is for you when you connect Bluetooth device, just curious, for me, it was a big difference.

Interesting results, could be from various reasons like a bad iFi, as mentioned.

Could also be from a bad cable, broken shielding or improperly shielded, did you try at least one other cable?

Did you use the same wall outlet?

It could even be within the WIIM as well, cable not seating properly, etc........

Sometimes things just work out a particular way on some units and not others, in your case did not work out but you were able to return it, a good thing:)

I used same outlet, when you're saying cables, you mean....? I used same cables, tried RCA and optical, but nothing changed between chargers.
