The rise of nationalistic parties is a common feature across most of the developed world. Sadly, people seem to have forgotten their history (largely down to addictive social media trash) and are being condemned to relive it. Yes, what has become of America? But believe me, here in Germany it's also on the decline. A right-wing party is gaining more and more support, and our current administration is too stupid to ban it, even though the legal basis for doing so exists.
They are fueling plenty of musical protest, but I'm afraid it won't be enough:
Some good satire & parodies but nothing like the cultural revolution (eh!?) of the 60 - 80s.

Essentially, I see competition for resources (and to a lesser extent culturally) between America, Russia, a fragmented Eurasia and China. The latter is definitely years ahead of the rest which has provoked the current isolationist-expansionist creature known as the USA.
I'm afraid the arts, music & the humanities are going to take a bashing.

Europe, and Germany in particular as an automotive nation, has clearly missed the boat on this trend.
Yes, they are so stupid that they even willingly divulge state secrets and give out information about infrastructure, etc. On foreign TV, they convey a completely false image of Germany.
I listen a lot to LBC - Britain's most popular phone-in station - the voice of the 'everyday man & woman'. The level of political & economic ignorance is frightening. The moderators (with a couple of exceptions) are similarly ill-informed & biased. The level of war mongering currently being pushed on the station is sickening.
To be perfectly clear: Americans are not inherently bad, just as not all Germans are Nazis. There is much good in the world, and there are many good people who have nothing to do with all this nonsense and really just want to live in peace.
