Thinking about modding my WiiM Pro Plus: Worth it for digital output?

Hi everyone,

I’m considering modding my WiiM Pro Plus, but I’m wondering if it actually translates to noticeable sound improvements.

Specifically, I'm thinking about:

• Replacing the stock coaxial output with a WBT connector.

• Swapping out some internal capacitors and other components for higher-grade ones.

Has anyone here tried modding their WiiM Pro Plus? Are the stock components already good enough for a pure transport? My ultimate goal is to get the absolute best digital output from this device.

Any advice or hands-on experiences would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Note that there is a real risk of degrading performance with mods (unless you really understand the complete circuit), while in best-case scenario performance would stay the same.

So I'd personally advise against the mod - unless you just enjoy the process and aren't that concerned about the results. Tinkering itself can be fun, after all! :)

Modifying some analog components will not change the audio data. In worst case you will just break the digital transmission. In best case nothing will change.

If you're not happy with the sound, why not just buy something further up the food chain if you really think it will improve things?

...or do you just enjoy tinkering?

I’ve added a Linear Power Supply or rather swapped one in for the supplied switching supply and it’s made a slight positive difference, not really a mod though … I use my WPP as a transport
