Ok. Sounds strange as the WiiM Home App uses the uPnP for discovery and the associated protocols for access. The WiiM device do not access the phone, only respond to requests via e.g. HTTPS from the phone.
Thanks---I can go to the router and change some settings--but there is no option like that--IGMP Snooping/proxy. It's a ORBI router CBR40 up-to-date firmware--v2.5.0.28Have you checked if your router has IGMP Snooping/Proxy enabled? Poor implementations can cause connectivity issues.
There's no setting for uPnP on the router but my research says its a default on. Ya this stuff is complicated for the non-technical ding dings like myself. I guess I could try a new router. Who has a new router that works out of the box with the wiim ultra---that's reasonably priced ya..Ok. Thanks--I've got to factory reset the whole router now as I could not remember the answers to the questions I'll do it tomorrow and let you know---thanks. JeffCheck your router's logs for any specific errors and check the list of connected devices:
- ADVANCED > Administration > Logs
- BASIC > Attached Devices
Make sure to carefully review router settings like e.g.
- ADVANCED > Security > Access Control
- ADVANCED > Security > Block Sites
- ADVANCED > Security > Block Services
- ADVANCED > Setup > WAN Setup > Disable IGMP Proxying (there it is)
- ADVANCED > Setup > LAN Setup > Starting IP Address and
- ADVANCED > Setup > LAN Setup > Ending IP Address (the DHCP server needs enough addresses for all your devices)
- ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > UPnP (turn UPnP on if it isn't)
- BASIC > Guest Network (neither WiiM nor phone should be connected to the Guest Network)
Make sure you did not assign a static IP address in the WiiM Home app unless reserving the same address in your router's setup. Generally, static IP addresses should not be needed. If anything, you might want to reserve an IP address in your router's config.
I think in the context of a router UPnP refers to the Internet Gateway Device Protocol (automatic port forwarding e.t.c.), which you generally want to turn off. I haven't seen a router that has blocked UPnP on the LAN.

There are dedicated settings for automatic port forwarding on this router model, though, so I'm not sure about this one.I think in the context of a router UPnP refers to the Internet Gateway Device Protocol (automatic port forwarding e.t.c.), which you generally want to turn off. So I disabled some "stuff" that based on the internet looked like it could be problematic and seemed similar to the IGMP thing not the (also probably reduced my protections). This did not fix the issue. So then I went in and enabled two settings that based on netgear should usually be enabled but were not---(the upnp thing was default enabled) One of those settings I enabled allowed the device to work without issues. Thanks for the helpThanks--I've got to factory reset the whole router now as I could not remember the answers to the questions I'll do it tomorrow and let you know---thanks. Jeff
You tease! One of those settings I enabled allowed the device to work without issues.
Do you mean you reserve IP addresses in your router settings which is different to setting static IPs on devices? Some Threads above someone said it's not nessecary to manually set a fixed ip... True. But...I would react contrary and suggest to set fixed IPs for all Important devices Inside of your Router Setup/Network.
Especially when the Wiim seems to loose connection after some time - it could be a try with dedicated IPs.
Some while ago i had problems with some home automation Hardware and got some ip conflicts from time to time or wasnt able to reach these units... After setting everything manually Inside the Router setting ("Fritzbox") - the problem was gone.
It's maybe Not your final solution - but you should consider that option If you are average firm in Ip Setup settings.
