Ultra is clipping and distorting through USB & COAX until "Fixed Resolution" is selected. Why?

I've had the Ultra for several months. All was well. No issues, using Amazon Music.

Recently got a new CD transport so haven't used Ultra in about 2 weeks.

Turned on today and all of a sudden I am getting clipping and distortion from certain songs (seems like songs that differ from selected max resolution?? Hard to tell).

This is on both USB & COAX.
Spent about an hour trying to troubleshoot this and realized that a firmware update was just done on the 18th.

The only way to make the clipping stop is by setting the output sample rate to "fixed resolution". However, then my DAC sees everything as 24/192.

I just want it back the way it was for the past few months where you set a MAX sample rate.

I don't get it.....

You posted this elsewhere and replied with this: I suggest you check your settings and power cycle the unit.

On the other post you do not refer to the CD player. Do you have the same problem with other sources? Does the unit operating as a streamer also distort/clip?

No other source problems. Only Ultra.

I have rebooted and unplugged (power cycled) the unit several times. Nothing in settings had changed, and I've been through them all.

The only thing that works is fixing output resolution.

In playing with it a bit more, I realize it only occurs on 96kHz tracks when USB is set to 24/192.

All other sampling rates are fine.

Is this the same problem?

On that thread you stated the problem was elsewhere…

If the same problem please confirm here to close the issue.

Same problem. It was something with the dac and ultra. Reboot of dac stopped it. Ty.

A couple of suggestions:

1 - If a device has a problem, try first to isolate it from other devices. Turn it off and on. Play it by itself and check its performance. Add other devices one at a time and check. Still has the problem? Contact WiiM via WiiM Home App Feedback service.

2 - Please avoid posting multiple posts about the same issue. When the problem is resolved come back to the thread you started and post the solution ASAP, especially on a thread with a dramatic subject like this one when the problem had nothing to do with a WiiM device.
