Ultra vs Eversolo A6?

Hi all,

On paper, how would the two compare and which one would be better?

Thoughts?

James

I have Both, my opinion they are both good. The Eversolo is more of a digital preamp with more options for switching inputs/outputs and a little more refined. The WiiM Ultra would do the job for 98% of people at less than half the price. As far as streaming, a streamer is a streamer, it's the add ons that make the difference to different people.

For me the lack of eArc and no auto sensing on the inputs is one of the reasons why I didn’t go for it .. The Gen 2 on the other hand ;)

The Eversolo DMP-A6 is a feature-rich network audio streamer and DAC, but it’s important to consider certain limitations that might impact its suitability for your specific needs:

• Wake-on-LAN (WOL): The DMP-A6 lacks WOL functionality, meaning you cannot power it on from standby mode using a smartphone or computer remotely.

• Digital Signal Processing (DSP): Its DSP capabilities are confined to the analog outputs and do not extend to the digital outputs.

• Subwoofer Output: There is no dedicated subwoofer output, which could be a consideration if you plan to integrate a subwoofer into your audio setup.

• Bass Management: The device does not offer built-in bass management features, limiting control over bass frequencies within your system.

• Auto Sense: The DMP-A6 does not include an auto-sensing feature to automatically detect and switch between active inputs.

These factors are worth considering when evaluating the DMP-A6 for your audio setup.

All above functions is available in the WiiM Ultra.

DSP is available on all outputs. I think your info is out of date or incorrect on that one (might be only when using internal player). Auto sense was mentioned in the last system update but I've not had occasion to look into it. I wish it had sub out and base management, but so far I have managed without it (gen 2 will not have sub out/base management either). Anyway different strokes as they say.

Thanks for correcting, on the A8 the DSP only applies on analog out so I thought it was the same.
