Just got the ultra and when I plug a USB cable into my dac And look on the output options the USB is grayed out, and I can’t even choose it. what do you think is going on? Thanks.

Is the dac powered on and on its usb input?

Yes it is

Try replace usb cable and change dac from usb to coax then back to usb.

And reboot the Ultra from the WiiM Home app.

Another basic troubleshooting step would be to try a different usb cable.

Also: what make / model is your dac?

I have tried a different cable, no different. Audionet dnc. It’s an older item I got used recently. The coax works fine and when i plug in the cable it shows 48k but says unlocked which seems to me means it’s not locked to the Wiim which makes sense since the option for the USB is grayed out on the device and doesn’t even appear as an option in the app.

Full disclosure, I don't use the USB as an output. Actually don't have a way to with my equipment. But I like to know the products I purchase can perform all their functions. In the app I have no USB output option. Nothing grayed out. Just no option. Does it only appear if a device is plugged in?

Yeah, it only appears if there's an active device connected
