What products you'd like to see WiiM produce?

Funny though... I asked 2 questions on this forum: with my first one the answer I got was "use another app"
A suggestion to use another app when there’s currently what you see as a deficiency in the WiiM app is a very helpful response in my book…

The one thing I'd like to see on the app (and Ultra screen) is the ability to customise just a little more. Specifically, I only ever use streaming (Amazon Music) and USB-attached files, so I'd like to be able to put right at the top of the main screen on the Wiim Ultra's screen.

The default 'home' screen on the Ultra lists 'Player', 'Preset', 'Input', Output', 'EQ', 'Screen' and 'Info'. Input still doesn't list USB.

When I go to my USB Music Library on the app, I have the option along the top of songs, albums, artists, playlists, genres and folders (in that order). I prefer to use folders, but I have to swipe right over to get it on the far right hand side.

Just in general, the ability to order and layout things in the order you prefer is both attractive, and I suspect pretty easy to implement.

I have a flat mic, good quality, but I never managed to make it work with my phone: it's not being recognised
I had the same issue with a Berhinger ECC 8000 measurement microphone -- worked fine with my laptop but not my phone. Buying an inexpensive Dayton IMM-6C solved that problem and gave better room correction results than my phone's built-in mic.

I totally get your point, and I know this suggestion was given to try and help me, but here's my point, and I'm honestly curious about this point: if I use a different DAC (which I do) and a different app, what's left to enjoy in the Wiim Ultra?

For me the enjoyment comes from being able to listen to music in the simplest, most convenient way with the functionlity I desire.
If a particular app's shortcomings prevent that then I look for something else that can achieve this.

Personally, I have a negative correlation between using the wiim app (to play music) and enjoying the ultra, or any other wiim, because of things like its queue mangement and not showing a favourite indication on the main now playing screen.
These things quite possibly don't bother others at all, but they do me.

Once I've used the wiim app to set up a few things I can choose between the wiim app (least likely), presets from the remote, bubbleupnp, spotify connect (well, you don't get a choice there!), tidal connect, LMS, chromecast etc.
The wiim app becomes mostly redundant to me at that point, and I was suggesting that if its queue management bothered you as much as it seems then maybe it could for you too.

Of course, that doesn't mean we should let Wiim off the hook and not fix these usability issues.
After all, it was quite some time ago that they acknowledged their desire / ability to be as good as bubble.
(Paraphrasing there, but that's the gist of it, although I also concede they may not have specifically been thinking of things like its queue mangement, just its dnla/upnp capabilities.)

100% agree with this...

I have just received my Ultra - a few months after selling my WiiM Pro and living without the WiiM Home app.

Although it offers all the functionality one can dream off, it feels very cluttered and cumbersome still, like a 10y old application. Especially the menu structure with the settings is very illogical at times. It took me a while to find certain settings.

A while ago I was told that HiFi towers are a dying breed, AIOs are the future ;-)
As long as I will live the component idea will have at least one supporter. Will not be enough to feed the industry, but I've took care of and are prepared ;-)

I'd like to see a Wiim HUB.
So that those of us with multiple legacy line level devices, via an ADC, could integrate these devices into the Wiim Ecosystem.
3 or 4 pairs of RCAs would allow the connection of R2Rs, Minidisc, higher quality standalone phonostages, CDPs without digital outs etc.
Yes the Ultra has MM/MC capability + line in but, from general Internet chatter, the Phono section is pretty low rent, (MC especially) and whilst okay for budget tts, it's not really good enough for the Rega 3 and upwards users.

I have just added a Pro+ and connected Minidisk and Cassette tape player with both in and out (optical and analog).

The main Ultra has CD and TT connected (optical in and Phono in).

Linking Pro+ with Ultra in different directions, I can both play and/or do recording on all.

Apologies if this has already been requested.

A feature I believe many would enjoy/use, is an ability to digitally apply low order (2nd and 3rd) harmonic distortion via the WiiM software, thus mimicking the “decay/bloom/warmth” effects of tube amplifiers.

Personally, if I found a streaming hub that could do this well, I would purchase it for that reason alone. I realize there probably exist computer/desktop softwares that have similar features but many like myself have no interest in those and prefer to use a streamer’s native app.

Why. Make no sense.

If you get a ground loop, it'd make a lot of sense.

Some amps only have balanced ins, so again it'd make a lot of sense.

If WiiM are going to make a higher end version ("The More Ultra-er"?), I strongly supect it'll have balanced outs.

The more time I spend about HiFi things, the less I need balanced inputs and outputs.
What is the amount of rejection you seek about noise and IEM if you just need 30-50cm of very well shielded cable?
What is the need of balanced output if you now get from a sub-100$ DAC more than 115dB SINAD on SE output?
Just my 5 cents, of course.

An advantage typically coming from balanced preamp is that it likely will have two line outputs: one balanced and one unbalanced. If you want to keep Ultra as a DAC/preamp without any manual/external switching with both a headphone amp and stereo power amps it is useful. Two pair of RCA unbalanced could also achieve that requirement obviously.

What products would you like to see based on what you've experienced so far?
A cheaper WiiM mini that has Chromecast, has stable Wi-Fi so that you can connect more speakers throughout the house. A replacement for the older Google Chromecast audio, but with the WiiM software platform. Also, more inclusion for more streaming services. I'm guessing Apple music will never happen, but others like DI FM and sister apps like Radio Tunes, Jazz Radio, Rock Radio, and Classical Radio. Sirius XM and YouTube radio would be nice as well.
