What products you'd like to see WiiM produce?

a modernization-update, with the experience acquired, of the mini (released at 2021!)
a "mini mk2".
It was the first success of wiim... a response which "hooked" to the disappearance of the chromecast audio...
a better audio quality? chromecast? more power and memory for the "future"...etc
to be redefined for a very general public entry-level product "mini" not expensive
;-)

The more time I spend about HiFi things, the less I need balanced inputs and outputs.
What is the amount of rejection you seek about noise and IEM if you just need 30-50cm of very well shielded cable?
What is the need of balanced output if you now get from a sub-100$ DAC more than 115dB SINAD on SE output?
Just my 5 cents, of course.

I don't need balanced outputs either. But I'm not going to come a thread where someone says they'd like them, then tell them how much I don't need them, so neither should they.

Once again, ground loops can occur (though should be rare if the only powered items used are Ultra into amp), and shielded cables won't make the slightest bit of difference.

For me, my amp has both standard and balanced ins. I'm lucky (or at least not unlucky) in that I have no ground loops. If I had, I'd just have used the optical out on my Ultra to feed my EX5 DAC, then balanced outs from that to my amp.

Horses for course, mate. If people want something, and you don't, let them ask for it.

There clearly is a need for balanced ins and outs, as many home hi-fi products now have them.

An advantage typically coming from balanced preamp is that it likely will have two line outputs: one balanced and one unbalanced. If you want to keep Ultra as a DAC/preamp without any manual/external switching with both a headphone amp and stereo power amps it is useful. Two pair of RCA unbalanced could also achieve that requirement obviously.

Agreed. Though WiiM still need to sort out the 'sub/no sub is with different outputs' issue.

I agree that an Ultra with balanced outs would be a good idea. A friend of mine has installed balanced audio lines in his house renovation with the future intention of driving a pair of ATC active floor standers. Cable runs are approx. 10m away from where the streamer sits currently.

You can semi-balance the signal by moving the ground over to the cold leg and terminating the shield at the speaker end (floating at the Ultra end) but it’s not ideal to say the least.

Peace, pal.
Away from me to tell somebody what to buy or what to not. ;)

My thought is just that the average user of an Ultra could get small advantages from a balanced output for getting rid of noise and ground loops in typically short interconnects, and I can say this because it seems that both uf us are lucky enough about ground loops.

Of course, a situation like the long cables 547stereo mentions, or the strong need of getting multiple analog outputs, changes the scenario and both cases should get evident advantages of sonic and logistic matter.

I would like a high end wiim ultra with linear power supplies, full galvanic separation, 4 fully balanced dacs and high precision oxco clock. balanced outputs and all the great features already present in the current ultra. being able to use multiple outputs at the same time. And a new room correction like Dirac live

… and make a good cup of coffee 😉🤣

and you forgot the much fantasized point... cheap of course , very..... just max a few dozen dollars more than the ultra I imagine

Yes, I think that any future new high end product probably has to have everything, within reason.

There are bonus add-ons like a decent headphone amp, but you can buy one separately. It would need to have everything you can’t add after purchase - balanced outs have been mentioned, better room correction, maybe a better mic (or the ability to buy one as an extra), better/easier screen casting, maybe HDMI out/pass through, make the HDMI in eARC rather than just vanilla ARC, coax in, USB in.

Just a lot of additional cost for no befits.
But would look great in the specs.

Isn't the upcoming preset feature solving that already?

Beta ongoing for sub out with usb out which is basically similar problem? Assume the sub settings will also be part of the preset.

At some point perhaps, but there’s no indication the first release will include that.

Thanks for clarifications! So we don't know more then the line in the roadmap which mentions "more" but indeed nothing on "sub out"?

From Roadmap:
  • Smart Preset (Shortcut): Customize remote or app preset buttons to execute routines that control settings such as INPUT, OUTPUT, VOLUME, EQ, playback URLs, SHUFFLE, GROUP configurations, and more—all tailored to your preferences for a seamless audio experience.

I think “more” is perhaps just a place-marker for future settings. The current documentation doesn’t show all the settings mentioned so I think it’ll be a work in progress. If they had implemented saved profiles as per this post, then we might have had it all ;) https://forum.wiimhome.com/threads/saved-settings-profiles.5049/

I seem to remember them saying it was coming with the next update, several updates ago. Or did I imagine that?

No, for this kind of product i'm ready to spend a lot of money
