External power supplies are cheapo. I skip on, when I see them.If, to save money (removing a DAC stage not expensive here), we might as well remove the screen, an expensive element that requires a lot of resources and make electronic pollution, etc....
We have the information on our phones and tablets anyway.
(does not prohibit taking care of the quality of local regulations...but outsourcing the power supply...whether for the choice of the technical approach, or even distance from pollution, but also for the durability of the machine (power supplies being a source of fragility) is in reality probably a good thing. .. ;-) )
Haha, I know what you mean and technically I‘m with you.Do you think the internal ones will actually be better made?Just that part, switching power supplies often pose reliability issues in affordable hardware...so preferable on these modest machines externally to avoid "planned obsolescence"...
and also offers the possibility to play with different types of power supplies as well...
But from a usability POV external power supplies are just s PITA and always additional clutter.
So I‘d rather pay for a well implemented PS instead of having another box floating around.

Clearly not. WiiM machines run considerably cooler than the egg friers made by Naimyou're still going to compare wiim...and naim..

I need a wiim mini with a usb audio out for use in my car that doesn't have any other audio inputs...roomfit in the car would be awesome

That's correct. One box ,pure amp only. Wiim streamer (pro plus or equivalent)feeding into this one box.This way all the money goes into the amp quality.
There are many wiim streamer only users going for other Class D amps or Class A/ AB power amps.
Since wiim already has the expertise with Class D it's about extending the line more meaningfully.The marketplace for a hi quality class D stereo one box power amp is there.A slight premium price is also possible.This combo can be a pure stereo path for folks who prefer only stereo with higher power and quality (load invariant?)with existing wiim or equivalent streamers

I would be sceptical that a car audio system usb input does this
In most modern cars the USB input will also support Carplay and the other one (Android) including charging the phone. So I‘d be confident.
