What's your setup/configuration look like?

In-your-face bass!

My SVS1000Pro arrived, and given its relatively small sealed size for a 12" sub, this positioning on the heavy [Western Juniper] shelf sounds excellent as a 2.1 setup!

Proximity to the upstaris listening area also works - I'll see if I can configure a preset to add a bit of subwoofer gain when I'm listening in the loft (where the sub sits about 2' under the floor decking). I'll also put the SVS' grill on when I get around to better cable management:). The wire running down from above is Ethernet for the WiiM Ultra.

So I've cheerfully connected the SVS1000Pro to the Ultra's LFE output, run the Subwoofer / Main alignment and run through RoomFit with the subwoofer switch on (so much more subwoofer frequency involvement than with the Fosi SW10!). So, I'm wondering about the division of labor between the DSPs of the WiiM Ultra and the SVS subwoofer. Is there more configuration worth doing with the SVS app vs. what I've done in the WiiM app?

WiiM Ultra
Aiyima A70 with 48V 10A Power Supply
Sony BDP 1800 CD Transport, BR & DVD Player
Canton Chrono SL 520 Bookshelfs
Presonus Eris Sub8
Fire TV4 50"
Bee Mini PC

Extremely satisfying and budget-friendly solution for my personal small listening & viewing space.

I replaced the Presonus subwoofer with a sealed Canton Sub 601, which not only looks better with the Canton Crono SL 520 bookshelf speakers, but also sounds better to my ears – tighter and faster. The crossover frequency is now 61 Hz instead of the previous 80 Hz, and it extends the sound beautifully and seamlessly into the lower range, thanks to Roomfit. I also treated myself to an S.M.S.L PL150 CD player, which also does its job flawlessly. All of this is still budget-friendly and yet sounds fantastic.29434.jpg

Would be great to see some pictures of your setup with WiiM product and exact audio configuration to give others some ideas and recommendations:cool:.
My living room setup, uses a Wiim Amp or Wiim mini (with a PROZOR 192KHZ DAC and Tubecube 7 amp) to power a pair of 1980 Klipsch La Scalas and a Klipsch R12SW. The power from the amps is switched with the two/one switch on the left. The powered subwoofer is switched between the Wiim mini/Wiim amp/TV with the three/one switch on the right.
My bedroom setup uses a Wiim mini (PROZOR 192KHZ DAC and HTA200 amp) powering a pair of Klipsch Forte IV speakers.

I wonder how often you want to post this again. It doesn‘t get any better by doing so.

New amp.... this configuration sings... a 10 wpc amp into high efficiency wideband speakers

WiiM Ultra
Nitsch DAC
Rolls analog crossover ( for the (sub)woofers )
Parasound Zamp
Fostex FE103WK in P1000-BH cabs
DIY Pass N-channel VFET 40th Anniversary with FE22 front end
Dayton Audio MKSX4

I had to get a replacement for the FE103WK that got smoked two weeks ago..:rolleyes::p

Oh, I replaced the speaker cables, took out the Canare and put in the Kimber 8TC.

BTW- I got to do a plug in here for those speakers... with the fancy Japanese grills, those speakers cost 300 bucks for the pair... sure, they're a kit so you have to drill and install the drivers, easy stuff as the cabinets are already finished. The best crossover is no crossover at all. Madisound has them in stock.

Here is my current system. I don’t use all those speakers. I’m currently using the Elac Debut 3.0 DB63’s. I inherited the Pioneer HPM-100’s from a friend but they are a little too much for my current listening room. I got the Sony SS-CS5’s when they were on sale at Best Buy and they really sound great but lacked a little bass and I didn’t want to get a subwoofer, so I found the Elac’s for $150 off retail price on eBay and snatched them up. They’re perfect for my room. BTW, love my Wiim Ultra!

What's the power amp?

I'm currently very much enjoying the Topping Mini 300, fed directly from the WiiM Ultra over RCA. 12v trigger working perfectly with a mono cable.

It is my first try with class D. It really has me wondering what more you can want from an amp. Sounds great so far! I was waiting for the pure power amp option (with built-in PSU) 3E Audio has been teasing for a while now, but couldn't pass on this for just €139. Still need to do some comparisons with the big Rotel it's sitting on, but call me ia

Apologies for the delayed response. The power amp is a Transaudio D5 Pro (BC version) It’s a clone of the Dartzeel NHB108 and cost me iirc about 530 quid, including shipping, off AliExpress, and it’s an absolute peach. It equals my valve amp for sound quality, certainly when the valve amp in in Ultralinear mode (tbh I always use it in Triode mode where it’s absolutely superior to the D5 Pro). Suffice to say all the positive talk about it on various forums and all the YouTube videos gushing over it are correct. Highly recommended.

I'm sorry but that's only because you and others want that to be the case simply because it's a clone of a "famous" audiophile amp, it has to be....

Have you heard it?

Class AB amplification is no rocket science anymore and has reached the limits of what it can technically achieve a long time ago.

Can't think of any reason why a €500 - €600 Aliexpress amp would sound so much worse than boutique offerings costing a few thousands.

I think you misunderstood my comment. I agree with you. The comment I made was in response of the notion that the clone or the amp that it is based on is something special.

Aha sorry if I did! Must say I have never heard off Dartzeel and I just looked up that model. That's totally the other side of the spectrum and although it probably sounds great, it seems a little overpriced/overhyped :)

I'm also trying to make the best of 'decent budget speakers' with my system, and given your use of a WiiM Ultra, I'm trying to understand your aversion to adding a subwoofer. What's up with that?

I'm using two sets of the [2025 updated] Sony SS-CS5 (M2) speakers for mains, and recently had my Fosi SW10 subwoofer fail. I spent a few days without the subwoofer trying to PEQ the best sound from the Sonys alone before picking up an SVS SB-1000 Pro subwoofer (Best Buy open-box - I can relate ;-).

Because the Sonys struggle to produce much bass below 60Hz, and I've got an interesting ground-floor-Loft-overlapping-stereo-zones acoustical challenge, I've found that adding the SVS subwoofer at a 100Hz crossover with the help of the WiiM Ultra has allowed the Sonys to sound their best by only dealing with the upper bass on up.

The WiiM Ultra's subwoofer config/support,what I bought it for, seems to work well. I like using RoomFit targeting a Flat curve with Variable smoothing... At a 100Hz crossover for the SB100Pro and CS5-M2 mains, things seem to measure pretty well:

So I have to admit that to my old ears, the system is now quite good and I'm wondering what main speaker upgrade(s) would be truly meaningful/imapctful to my listening. I feel I've augmented and tweaked the mass-market Sonys to their best performance, and I'm eager to hear what folks with the audiophile bug are experiencing with higher cost and [hopefully] higher-value equipment. Your ELAC DB63s are well regarded in their price range and I've considered grabbing a pair... but I'll be considering higher-end options as well before my next speaker upgrade (more reading to do on audiosciencereview.com, etc). There's an open-box set of KEF Q Concerto Metas at a nearby Best Buy that are calling to me...
