Since I am lucky enough to have managed to optimize the sound of my system via placement and crossover tuning, I don’t need room correction or EQ anymore. Given that, I’ve replaced the Marantz M1 with Topping E50 II feeding a pair of Topping B200 monoblocs. Subwoofer also switched back to SVS SB-3000 now that I have the WiiM Ultra handling bass management and can utilize speaker delay to make up for the DSP-induced delay of the SVS sub; the low, 40Hz crossover allows me to get away with the poor granularity (only whole milliseconds for delay control). My dad gets the Rythmik L12 from me to pair with his Magnepan LRS+ speakers (replacing his little toy Rel T/zero).

I hid the WiiM behind the clock and disabled display and status light, because it’s the only thing in my system that isn’t black, making it an eyesore to leave out.

What does the response look like now? Does the SVS sub have its own DSP room correction?
I have the original SB-3000, which only has a 3-band PEQ, not full SVS Auto Room EQ like the new SB-3000 R|Evolution that just came out. The sub part (40Hz and down) is basically dead flat relying on a single PEQ filter I've applied in its DSP, though, so I'm fine with this old model. The rest of the spectrum is not quite as smooth as with DIRAC, but without DIRAC mucking with the phase, it sounds cleaner. Part of what I did that also helped was when I changed from the Rythmik back to this sub, opening the ports back up on the speakers improved integration (ports sealed integrated better when my crossover was 80Hz; I forgot to test ports open versus shut when I initially changed crossover down to 40Hz with the Rythmik L12). By reopening the ports on the speakers, I regained a tremendous amount of upper bass punch, and actually filled a number of gaps/dips that I had with the ports shut, without introducing any excesses/bumps. The SB-3000 also has a tremendous amount of slam compared to the Rythmik, something I was surprised to find because frequency response graphs do not indicate the result of one subwoofer having a tremendous headroom advantage over another for dealing with dynamic material, so despite moving away from using room correction, I've gained tremendous punch and slam without any boominess--this last part is where I got absolutely lucky! If I use an 80Hz crossover, I get boominess due to excess bass contribution from the sub's location. If I use no sub and leave the speaker ports open, well, extension is not nearly as good, but I also end up with excess boominess from the left speaker. Only by crossing at 40Hz am I able to spread bass out around that 35-55Hz region evenly enough between three different sources to smooth out the bass response naturally and avoid boominess in any one listening spot!

To note: I was also only able to reutilize my SVS SB-3000 because of the WiiM Ultra having delay controls. The Marantz M1 does not, which eliminated my ability to use the SVS SB-3000 due to its ~5-6ms of DSP-induced delay, a problem the Rythmik does not have. Moving from the Marantz back to WiiM allowed me to utilize a DSP-driven sub again since relying on physical placement to time-align the SB-3000 would place the sub dead-center in the middle of the family room floor, which is absolutely no good from a living standpoint as well as bass distribution standpoint.

Wiim Ultra as pre and DAC into Audiolab 6000a running in pre pwr mode hooked up to a pair of Wharfedale Lintons.
Really like the the Ultra. It started out as a streamer with the 6000a running as integrated but the Ultras DAC really changed the sound even though the internal DAC in the 6000a is pretty good.
Also like the fact that I'm now able to control volume directly inside Spotify Connect both on my phone and iMac.
Thought about trying a pair of Fosi V3 Mono as both the Audiolab and Lintons are on the warmer side so I do sometimes miss a bit more clarity in the top but overall very pleased.

Gadgets like the Ultra are really a gamechanger when it comes to equipment setups. Their ability to act as pre-amps including volume control and the possiblity to hook up a TV via HDMI ARC make integrated amps without built-in streamers and dedicated pre-amps obsolete.
Power amps are becoming more and more interesting on the other hand, also to people who couldn‘t have cared less about them in the past.
Take an Ultra, connect it to a competent class-D power amp, decent speakers and you have a very serious just two-box setup.
Having said that, you should look into Purifi implementations by Apollon, Buckeye and others before getting those cheapo Fosis. The outlay isn‘t that much more. In return you get a better amp, more power reserves and just one box. The Fosis will be four boxes plus all the cables. Dreadful.
