An equally valid observation would be that many of us use smart plugs to turn them off.An observation from forums that due to low power consumption and the faff or lack of option to switch off, most do leave theirs on.
Exactly. An equally valid observation would be that many of us use smart plugs to turn them off.
Fair comment - but given the low consumption, is that really worthwhile? An equally valid observation would be that many of us use smart plugs to turn them off.
I use the same smart plug for the WiiM Amp and a subwoofer. The sub doesn't have a standby mode so the combined total is around 13W. It all adds upFair comment - but given the low consumption, is that really worthwhile?
Are you suggesting WiiM owners aren't clued up?All fair comments - I wonder what the less clued up, average person, who invariably leaves chargers on etc does though?
I think that's the beauty of Wiim products is that they cater for folks of all levels of technical expertise and passionAre you suggesting WiiM owners aren't clued up?![]()
Sorry, purely subjective. I would also claim, purely for my own protection and after spending a lot of money on additional DACs, that it sounds much better with theseThe wiim ultra sounds much better with a quality external dac. Doesn't matter if it's through the toslink, coaxle or usb output. I have one going through the Schiit Bifrost (headphone setup), and another going through a Geshelli J2S dac. Both are significant upgrades. Not because they're colored but because they sound better.
My Ultra is constantly scrambling my links with Tidal and Amazon. A fix for that or at least a response to my tickets would be a good start. What is subpar with the WiiM Ultra sound quality from the various digital inputs?
If I was to change anything I'd like better specs on the analog inputs. The ADC is in itself more than good enough, but its implementation could be better.
I don't think this comment is relevant for this thread? My Ultra is constantly scrambling my links with Tidal and Amazon. A fix for that or at least a response to my tickets would be a good start.
Everosolo will be releasing the version which combines the screen and amp all in one with their softwareHello everyone, it's been several months since wiim presented the Ultra on May 9th at the High End Munich 2024. On this forum there is a section where users describe which device they would like wiim to produce. In this post instead I would like to know if anyone has any news on when and what the heir of the wiim ultra will be and what features it could have. I have owned the Wiim ultra since day 1 and I am enthusiastic about this machine and the immense support it receives. Now however I would like to know if as with eversolo, bluesound and other brands wiim is preparing to storm the market with an even superior and higher quality product. Does anyone know any news?
Would order that in an instantReadable display from 3 m away? Something like this then. Slimdevices Transporter. Almost twenty years ago it was the best streamer-preamplifier you could buy. I had one until 2010, when it’s analog outputs became surplus.

Good points! I am missing; So far, WiiM make two streaming integrated amplifiers.
What is it that you're missing?
Don't get me wrong, I seriously wonder what WiiM had to do to makes customers skip the M10 V3 or MSA5500 in favour of a WiiM product.
- 2 x 100 W instead of 2 x 60 W?
- VU Meters or a configurable display?
- Turntable input?
- aptX support?
- More physical inputs?
- More physical outputs?
- Higher price?
- Blue light?
Looking forward to learn what they think customers might be after.
That’s an expensive nad. I’m sure there some minor improvements but I don’t think it should cost nearly 10 times of the ultra. More profit margin than performance.I'd like to see WiiM eventually makes an streaming integrated amplifier like;
