We're thrilled to announce that the WiiM Home TV app is now available for Fire TV! You can seeing what's playing on WiiM devices on big screens using an Amazon Fire TV. The WiiM Home TV app has basic playback controls and browsing, though it's not a full replacement for a mobile device.

Has anyone successfully launched the WiiM TV app via an Alexa routine (or voice control)?

I have been trying every phrase in the routine since yesterday, but cannot open the WiiM app.

I say "Alexa, open the WiiM home TV app on the FireTV" and it opens the Apple TV 😂😭

(I have been able to register the WiiM app to the customise button on the Fire TV Remote Pro and launch it.)
Not much luck here either no matter what I put in the fire tv action in the routine - best it does is bring up a search screen where the app does appear as selectable.

Thanks for confirming that.
Apparently, only well-known app can definitely be opened 🤔

I don't expect such an integration that allows you to set the Wiim Ultra parameters from the TV, but entering the "12 favorites" menu and the USB memory or among the files in the NAS of the home network must be possible. Otherwise it's really useless.

Great to see the Android Home app. Any chance it could detect devices over a wired lan connection instead of only WiFi?

It’s not meant to be like the mobile app, it’s a remote display of what’s playing on your WiiM devices.

But for clarity, you can continue to use the app on your phone as you always have been, and just use this for display purposes, right?

I tested the WiiM home TV app on a FireTV 4k max 2nd gen on a projector's 80" screen. The album art looks beautiful on the big screen.

So far there have been no major issues with the operation and the player is very nice and complete.

I can forward and rewind by moving the playback progress bar left or right on the FireTV Remote. (The operation is a bit unstable and tricky, however.)

A big thank you to the @WiiM Team for a very excellent app 👏👏👏😊👌

[Suggestions for future improvements]

It would be nice if the volume of the whole group could be adjusted when playing in a group.

As a read-only player, it is a great completion. In the future, it would be nice to be able to display artist information on the WiiM TV app and select songs from there, presets, recently played, etc. Is this technically possible?

@Wiimer , that's a pretty extensive review. Many thanks for taking the time and trouble to do this - very much in the best tradition of the forums, I think.

Yeah - it's a wireless display for your wiim device, with basic playback controls like pause, next, volume etc and the ability to choose which device's now playing screen you want to display, but for music selection etc you'd still use your mobile app.

I'd say it arose because of those who were disappointed that the HDMI connection on their Ultra or Amp etc wasn't a video output that they could plug into their TV to see what was playing that I think can be done by some other streamers. WiiM have gone one step further than that by making it an app that runs on on a media device on your network with no physical connection to your WiiM - and for all WiiM devices, not just those with an HDMI port.

Is there a minimum level of Fire OS required ?
My ageing Fire TV box (2nd Gen) is on Fire OS 5.2.9.5 and won't install the app

Thanks

It is available on both of my FireTVs, JVC & Bush. Does your TV not have an App Store as part of its FireTV OS?
Yes, searched the App Store and I am unable to find it ..

Not really an issue as I have an AppleTV but it’s strange why I not able to find it on the FireTv App Store ..

Still unable to see it on my TCL fire Tv.. even though I added it to my Amazon account..
Did you select it from a link like this on your phone and choose that tcl fire tv from ‘deliver to’ dropdown menu?
