A WiiM device with HDMI will need to be the front left and right channels. So an Amp Ultra could be the front right and left. From there, a pair of WiiM Sounds can be set up as a rear channels for 4.0 or 4.1. And After that, a WiiM Sound could be added as center, for 5.0 or 5.1.
I believe the 3.1 support is still being worked on.
The team is also looking into the possibility of five WiiM Sounds + an Ultra, but that's further out, if it's going to happen at all.

I tried it last night and it appears to work for 3.1 although it says 5.1 on the screen. Also, are we able to default the settings so I'm 3.x/5.x on ARC but 2.x on streaming/optical? It looks like you have to manually turn the center channel on/off in the group settings for those times I want the center on or off. I perhaps am doing something wrong here.

Thanks for checking! I did the same and confirmed the 3.0/3.1 option. We've got some changes planned to the setup as sit currently exists which will be improving both the configuration and functionality for different inputs. We've got planned to be able to let you choose which configurations you'd like for your various sources.
