Will this setup work? (Wiim Ultra + HiFi Speakers + x2 Wiim Sound speakers)

So, it’s not possible to integrate a stereo pair into a surround setup, right?

That’s a pity...
Doesn't look like it. Ideally a stereo pair should be treated as a single device across the board.

I agree. That’s exactly why I thought it could be integrated into a surround setup as a single device (just like the WiiM Amp).

From what I’ve heard from everyone, it seems to me that a stereo pair is a strange entity—neither a group nor a single device.
🤔

Hopefully resolved with future updates.

I was hoping this would behave like Sonos in that once you set up a stereo pair, the two are essentially joined as one. From memory I don't even think there's an option to select an individual speaker once they're paired on Sonos.

Yes, you can.

If you want to play in full stereo, link three WiiM units and then assign two WiiM Sound units to the right and left channels, respectively.

If you want to play in surround sound, please refer to Step 4 in the FAQ.

Since audio latency increases during group playback, I recommend opening the "Group Audio Latency" section in Ultra and setting the HDMI latency to 70ms or 150ms. (In the WiiM app, tap the gear icon in Ultra, open "Audio Input," and you'll find "Group Audio Latency.")

However, currently, automatic switching between 2ch and 4ch modes is not available. If you want to listen to music in 2ch mode, you will need to manually disable the group. Or, leave it set to 4ch and mute WiiM Sounds.
Sorry to pop back into this older thread - how does this help any potential lip sync issues with the tv? Given the tv will show the video and pass the audio to the WiiM device it's connected to and that then distributes the audio to the other speakers in the group which takes say x ms to do, how can a group delay help? Surely it would have to be an illogical negative value for it to sync with the audio. I would have thought that lip sync would need to be treated at source on the tv i.e. send the audio and delay the video by x ms?

I have a TV optical out feeding one of my pros.
By setting the 'optical in' group delay to 70ms the lip sync becomes bearable.
But you are quite right (obviously!) - video delay is the only ideal solution.

Yes, @Mr Ee wakes up earlier than I do.
If I'm at 800 ms, he is at 70 ms.😄

I had Gemini create an explanatory diagram of group audio delay.

(Since the latency for Ultra and Pro streamers is approximately 50 ms, the total delay for "2" and "5" is further reduced.)
